Covering the world of Bollywood from Dubai means a lot of phone calls to the stars, often at ungodly hours.
So it’s endearing to meet a Bollywood star who makes it his business to come and say hello to a journalist to whom they have spoken over the phone many, many times.
Say hello to Bollywood’s real-life prince Saif Ali Khan, who couldn’t hide his joy at hearing a familiar voice at a Dubai press meet for Humshakals last week.
“Manjusha, finally there’s a face to the voice,” said Khan, waving his hands from the stage as our Bollywood specialist Manjusha Radhakrishnan asked her question.
If that didn’t make you feel all warm and fuzzy, what he did next was as endearing. After the press meet, Kareena Kapoor’s husband made it a point to step down from the stage and introduce himself (his bouncer wasn’t too happy with his transgression), wading through the media and to personally greet the crack reporter.
“Finally, it’s so good to see you,” said Khan before being ushered for a round of interviews.
