John, yes even now, is a happening sex symbol, although Bipasha Basu may be inclined to disagree.

Priyanka Chopra Some people just hate her. Many cannot stand her singing. But ask the others who are her fans, and you will come across numerous people who just cannot look beyond her. What helps her case is that she is a fine actress too, which showed in her films like 7 Khoon Maaf, Kaminey and Fashion among others.

Ranbir Kapoor If you take a look at him, ‘cute’ sounds like a better and more appropriate word. But, then he takes off his shirt, and many among his fans go ‘ahhhh.’ This chap acts really well, as seen in Rockstar and Barfi among other films. But the single most popular moment of his entire career is from his disastrous debut: Saawariya. Remember him draped in a towel? You should.

Katrina Kaif Katrina is very interesting. She looks extremely attractive on most occasions. But give her an item number (Tees Maar Khan) or another show-stopping song (Dhoom:3), and she transforms herself into a diva who is uninhibited, hot and stunning. Among the chart-toppers any day.

'Humshakals' makes over Rs 25 crore in two days

Tagged as "the comedy of ghastly errors" and "a two-and-a-half-hour show reel of plotless, witless, joyless offensiveness", director Sajid Khan's latest offering 'Humshakals' has collected over Rs.25 crore in two days.

The total collection now stands at Rs.25.09 crore in just two days (Friday and Saturday), said a statement.

Writer Milap Zaveri, whose adult comedy 'Grand Masti' was panned by critics last year, is also happy with the film's performance.

The film stars Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh and Ram Kapoor, and has been made at a cost of Rs 75 crore.

"'Humshakals' is super steady on Saturday! No drop Despite the unprecedented negativity against it! Brilliant! Audiences chose to go for it!," he tweeted.

The entertainer starring Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Tammannaah Bhatia, Esha Gupta and Bipasha Basu is made at a cost of Rs.75 crore.

The Fox Star Studios and Vashu Bhagnani's co-production has already sold its satellite and music rights for Rs.45 crore.

Film Review: 'Humshakals' is for those who enjoy Sajid Khan brand humor

What's it's about: 

It's a madcap comedy. Sajid Khan dedicates his film to Kishore Kumar, Peter Sellers and Jim Carrey. It's about a rich man and his buddy and an evil uncle.

What's good: 

Sajid Khan is known for a certain kind of comedy. And it has always worked for him. He has his audience and he unapologetically caters to them. So while you might find the jokes corny or cheesy, the drag act a drag, and the comedy of errors a little overdone, his fans lap it up. There are many funny scenes in the film, even if it doesn't work for you in entirety, you will enjoy it in parts. The scene where Riteish and Saif are hanging in the men's room is hysterical. Riteish is on familiar ground in a comedy, while Saif returns to it after a long time. They have good chemistry without which the film would have fallen flat. Ram Kapoor's Johnny character with third stage OCD makes for many funny situations. Hate to admit it, but the OTT men-in-drag act was entertaining. Sajid even takes potshots at himself by using his last film as a form of torture in a mental asylum. Slow clap for that.

What's not: 

The three times the fun in the form in the triple role for Ashok and Kumar. The actresses have nothing to do except appear in songs. The overly gay characters are offending. And I won't even mention the vertically challenged humans. The climax was written was 12-year-olds. At one point you want it to end.

What to do: 

If you enjoy Sajid Khan brand of humour, then this one is for you.

Link-up rumours are hilarious, Sajid is like my brother: Tamannah

Actress Tamannah Bhatia, who stars in Sajid Khan's 'Humshakals', said the director is like her brother and she feels awkward to hear link-up rumours about them. Tamannah, 24, who made her Bollywood debut with Khan's 'Himmatwala' opposite actor Ajay Devgn, finds the rumours of their affair hilarious.

"Sajid is my brother. I also tie him rakhi. I find the rumours hilarious. If a director believes in an actor, they should not be linked. It gets awkward," she said in an interview here. Tamannah stars opposite Saif Ali Khan in 'Humshakals', which also has Ritiesh Deshmukh, Ram Kapoor, Bipasha Basu and Esha Gupta. There have been reports that Bipasha is not promoting the movie because she felt sidelined opposite Tamannah and Esha. "It is a fact that Bipasha is not promoting the film but I don't exactly know the reason behind this. But there was no such atmosphere on the sets. We all got along well. Sajid made clear from the beginning who had what role and for what duration," she said. The actress hailed Sajid, saying nobody makes a commercial comedy the way he does and even though 'Himmatwala' did not do well, she had no qualms in working with him again. "There are ups and down in one's career. I completely value Sajid's ability to be a fantastic comic director. Housefull and Housefull 2 were brands at their time. Sajid has the capibility to freshen up a comedy," Tamannah said.

Yes, I am in love with Harman: Bipasha

A day after Harman Baweja announced to the world that he is dating Bipasha Basu, she came out and "stated the obvious" that she is also in love with Harman. She said this on her twitter account.

Bipasha Basu  -"Stating the obvious!Yes Harman n Me r a couple :) Finally I have met a person who is a far better human being than I am.Blessed."

Not that Bipasha wanted to make the declaration. On Tuesday, when questioned whether she will be attending IIFA with Harman, Bipasha had said, "I am going to IIFA alone. So I am looking for an eligible bachelor there." She had earlier said she was waiting for a proposal.

Bipasha is all set to perform at the IIFA awards in Tampa Bay, Florida. 

Harman and Bipasha profess love for each other.

That statement didn't look very good for Harman who had said earlier in the day, "Our starting to see each other was very organic. Barring the fitness factor, we are very similar. She (Bips) is a simple, straight-forward and honest girl who is caring and loving. For both of us, family and friends mean the most in the world and we are both emotional, caring and simple," Harman had said.

On Wednesday, the actor took to her Twitter account to announce that she and Baweja are a couple. She said that she feels blessed to have finally met Baweja, who according to her is a far better human being than she is. 

In an earlier tweet, the actor had said, "(I) am in a very happy space in my personal life and it would be fair if people just respect that and not speculate."

Basu has earlier dated Bollywood actors Dino Morea and John Abraham. She and Abraham had an acrimonious break-up; he allegedly married girlfriend Priya Runchal earlier this year in a hush-hush ceremony. 

According to media reports, Bipasha and Harman are likely to tie the knot this year.

Bollywood wishes junior Bachchan on his 38th birthday

Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan, who debuted as a hero in the year 2000 with JP Dutta's 'Refugee', has turned 38 today.

Actors including Ritesh Deshmukh, Genelia D'Souza, Bipasha Basu, Sonu Sood and many others took to twitter to wish junior Bachchan on his special day.

Fashion designer Manish Malhotra wrote "Happy birthday dear Abhishek Bachchan. Wish you a fabulous year", while actor Anupam Kher blessed him to have a long, happy, successful and peaceful life.

The son of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan has received a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi, as a producer, for Paa, and has won three Filmfare awards for his work in Yuva, Sarkar , and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

Bipasha misses John at IIFA

Dusky beauty Bipasha Basu, who is present in Colombo, Sri Lanka, to attend the IIFA awards, revealed that she is missing the company of her beau, John Abraham. 

Dressed in a golden short dress, while going for the fashion extravaganza during the IIFA weekend here Thursday, Bipasha was asked whether she is missing the Bachhcan family, a regular at the event, this year. To this the actress quickly responded that she misses her boyfriend more. 

"I miss John. He is one person, whose company I miss the most here, not anyone else's," she said. 

Bipasha, who walked the ramp in the look that she will be sporting in her forthcoming film "Lamha", will also be performing at the awards night Saturday.

Bipasha Basu Keen To Attend FIFA World Cup

Bollywood beauty Bipasha Basu is keen to attend FIFA World Cup in South Africa. The actress wishes to catch up at least one of the matches of the event which will be hosted by South Africa this time.

 

An excited Bipasha says, “I am really looking forward to the FIFA World Cup. I like to watch football. And if everything falls into place, I might go for the semi-finals or finals.”  

 

FIFA World Cup will commence on June 11.The one month long sporting extravaganza will see participation of 32 countries.

 

The actress on being asked about her favourite team said, "I am not supporting any team in particular. Whoeverplays well deserves to win."

IIFA Weekend gets underway in Colombo

COLOMBO (Reuters) - While calls for a boycott of the ongoing IIFA awards, billed as Bollywood’s Oscars, are gathering momentum in India, the protests are nothing more than a faint murmur in the Sri Lankan capital where the three-day event opened on Thursday.

    Colombo is playing host to the annual awards which are held in a different city each year -- a sign of Bollywood's efforts to broaden its global appeal.

    But it is not a popular choice with some Tamil groups in India.

Civil rights groups have said the Lankan government should be investigated for potential war crimes at the end of their three-decade war against Tamil Tiger separatists a year ago.

    Tamil groups in India have been protesting against the choice of venue for the IIFA Weekend, urging Bollywood stars to boycott the awards.

    The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce has threatened to boycott the films of any Bollywood star who attends the awards. Many of Bollywood’s biggest names including IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan have chosen not to attend.

    But IIFA organisers have brushed off the boycott threat and so have the stars in attendance in Colombo.

    “We are here to do something good, something that will help people, why should anyone talk about negative things,” actor Salman Khan told Reuters on the sidelines of the event.

    “Half the industry is here. How many people will they boycott?”

    Hrithik Roshan and Bipasha Basu arrived in Colombo on Thursday, with Basu here to promote her new film “Lamha”, but the stars of two big films releasing in June, “Raavan” and “Raajneeti” stayed away.

    This would also be the first year that the IIFA itinerary does not feature a film premiere, even though “Raajneeti” releases across India on Friday.

    Organisers said they decided not to have a premiere as part of the IIFA Weekend.

    “Sri Lanka is just coming out of a war and does not have the infrastructure needed to have a premiere,” said Sabbas Joseph of Wizcraft International.

    “If we wanted to do a world premiere, it should be done the right way.”

Topless Bipasha Basu is a rage on internet

Bipasha Basu is creating waves on the internet. As soon as she announced her plans to join Twitter, videos of her posing topless in an old advertisement surfaced on the site YouTube. 

The ad, which also features Vivek Oberoi, was reportedly shot in India 11 years ago when Bipasha was bound in a contract with the New York-based Ford modelling agency. 

It was a television commercial for the New York Lotto but was shot in India. The ad is directed by Ken Nahoum. The video is posted online by Tommy Kane, who was the art illustrator for this ad.

A Mumbai tabloid quoted Bipasha's manager saying: "Bipasha had done this ad in 1999 when she was modelling for Ford Modelling Agency in New York. It was done as an international assignment and was meant for the international market. I don't know why such an old ad has surfaced now.

However, Vivek's spokesperson refused to speak on the commercial, saying that they have no idea of the ad.

Bipasha unfazed by nudity

Being a celebrity can have its downside and Bipasha Basu discovered this rather rudely recently when an ad shot in 1999, which has her gloriously au naturel surfaced on You Tube. The ad, which shows her as a Rajasthani bride getting ready for her wedding to Vivek Oberoi, was released in New York in 1999 to advertise for a lottery whose tag line read ‘All you need is a dollar and a dream’. 

In the course of getting dressed, Bipasha is shown nude, looking over her shoulder in a way that exposes her breast and as a shimmering dupatta is draped over her, she is seen from the back, entirely nude. 

Bipasha is aghast at the mischievious mind responsible for unearthing the ad (which was never released in India) and posting it on the site. Not denying that it is her in the ad she says, “In 1999, I was a model living in the USA and that is where I wanted to make my career. I was young and naïve and when I was told to turn towards the camera in the pose that eventually is in the ad, I did not understand anything about angles. In those days there was no monitor on the sets and I had no idea what was shot.” How obtuse, some might say. 

“Becoming an actor was not something I had even thought of,” she continues. “I was a kid in bohemia. Today as a mature woman working in India, I would never do such a shoot, not because I have double standards, but because such shots are just not part of our sensibility. It isn’t cool here.” 

Asked whether a body double was used, Bipasha laughed and pointed out that she remembers someone being there but she has no idea if it was her body double. “I have a very short memory and cannot remember anything that happened more than three years ago. Honestly, I don’t remember anything specific about shooting the ad.” The specifics are out now. Further defending the ad, she says, “It is a beautiful ad and I look great in it. It’s neither sleazy nor a porn. I am proud of the way I look in it.” So are we. 

Confiding that boyfriend John Abraham has no problem with the ad either, she says, “John is not hyper at all and neither are my parents. In fact, John told me I looked really hot in it. It is so wonderful to have a supportive boyfriend and parents.”

Bipasha's topless commercial hits the net

This is blast from the past. A bold topless commercial of Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu, that was supposedly taken over a decade ago, has hit the net.

The commercial for the New York Lotto commercial featuring Bipasha and Vivek Oberoi was directed by Ken Nahoum and art direction by illustrator Tommy Kane. The shot, which was taken in India, was meant for overseas use only.

“Bipasha had done this ad in 1999 when she was modelling for Ford Modelling Agency in New York. It was done as an international assignment and was meant for the international market. I don’t know why such an old ad has surfaced now,” The Times of India quoted Bipasha’s manager as saying.

However, Vivek's spokesperson refused to speak on the commercial, saying that they have no idea of the ad.

Bipasha's topless video makes a splash

Just as Bipasha Basu [ Images ] announced that she will soon join the microblogging site Twitter, videos of her posing topless in an old advertisement surfaced on the video posting site YouTube.

The dusky actress featured in the New York Lotto commercial, along with Vivek Oberoi [Images ], in the initial days of her modelling career. Since the ad was very bold, the question remained whether the actors had indeed shot for it.

Joining the B-Town bandwagon on social networking site Twitter "very soon" is actress Bipasha Basu, who was announced the brand ambassador of a Telecom Limited here Tuesday.

"I think the phenomenon of social networking sites is great. I am not on Twitter as of now. But I am getting on Twitter very soon, " Bipasha told reporters at the event.

"A lot of people use their phones these days for social networking. But I just call people through my phone. In our kind of business, it is most important to first stay connected with our manager and chartered accountant. And for me, a verbal conversation with them is a must, " she added.

The actress, who looked her slimmest in a fitted white coloured one-shoulder dress, admits that she isn't a gadget freak. 

"I am not a gadget freak. But anything that makes life easy and simple for me, is most welcome. Among the gadgets I like are - a good audio visual system, mobile, air conditioner and transport, " she said. 

Bipasha has been appointed as the ambassador for Telecom Limited "for her connect with ordinary Indians who want to get to the top", said company founder and chairman, Rakesh Malhotra. 

Bipasha, who was last featured in "Pankh", will be seen next in Rahul Dholakia's "Lamhaa", releasing July 17. For now, she is heading to Colombo to attend an award show. She will be performing some of her popular numbers there.
