Hum Aapke Hain Koun completes 20 years: 5 things we love about the film

On the 20th anniversary of Hum Aapke Hain Koun..! we give you a flash back of the things we loved in this blockbuster classic from 1994. The movie starring the young Salman Khan and gorgeous Madhuri Dixit in the leading roles was the first Bollywood film to collect over Rs 1 billion. The movie revolved around a family wedding relates to people of every age. The evergreen film featured cultural values, family drama, an adorable pet and an amusing love story between Nisha and Prem. The following are the things we loved the most:

1. The traditional wedding with all the relatives coming together and celebrating the ceremonies.

2. The expression on Salman Khan's face when he said his dialogue, "Shit! I love her"

3. The cute fights between Nisha and Prem, the way they would cough around each other, Prem correcting Nisha's calculation and making fun of her eating chocolates.

4. Nisha's wardrobe: The most colorful and elegant clothes worn by Madhuri Dixit makes it a dream wardrobe for many women.

5.Tuffy, the most love dog in Bollywood movies who was not only a companion but also acted as a wedding planner and messenger.

Has Kareena Kapoor lost her title as the 'Queen of Bollywood'?

Kareena Kapoor Khan and Cameron Diaz - both of these ladies have done some amazing work in their careers, both critically and commercially.

 
Each of them have played at least one character for which they will be remembered forever. Kareena's role in 'Jab We Met' and Cameron's in "There's Something About Mary" are two such roles.

While both of them have crossed their prime age, Cameron's popularity hasn't decreased one bit while Kareena has lost her "reigning queen of B-Town" title to the fresh faces like Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Alia Bhatt.  Bollywood actresses lose fame after they reach their prime age while on the other hand Hollywood actresses like Julia Roberts, Kate Winslet and Sandra Bullock are still starring in various Hollywood blockbusters.

Vidya Balan



Struggle and film debut (2000–04)
Vidya appeared in approximately sixty television commercials and in music videos for Euphoria and Shubha Mudgal. In 2003, she was signed on by Goutam Halder for his independent Bengali drama Bhalo Theko; her first film release.Her portrayal of Anandi, a young woman reminiscing about her past, won her an Anandalok Purashkar for Best Actress.

Breakthrough (2005–08)
In 2005 Vidya made her Hindi film debut with Pradeep Sarkar's musical drama Parineeta and then starred in  Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Guru, Salaam-e-Ishq: A Tribute To Love,  Eklavya: The Royal Guard and many other.

Rise to prominence (2009–12)
In 2009 Vidya played the role of an unwed gynecologist struggling with her 12-year-old son's Progeria Syndrome, in the R. Balki directed dramedy 'Paa'. Amitabh Bachchan played the role of Vidya's son and Abhishek Bachchan played the titular character. A critical and commercial success, the film has been described as a major turning point in her career. She still continues to star in various movies.

Vidya's next appearance was in Ekta Kapoor's production The Dirty Picture, this film was based on the life and death of the controversial Indian actress Silk Smitha. Vidya was cast as Silk.She described the role as the "boldest" she had ever played and to look the part, she gained 12 kilograms.Vidya won a second Filmfare Award, a third consecutive Screen Award, and a National Film Award for Best Actress.

In 2012, vidya starred as Vidya Bagchi,a pregnant woman in search of her missing husband in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani (2012). The thriller eas set in the city of Kolkata. itemerged as a major hit.Vidya won a fourth consecutive Best Actress Award at Screen and a third Best Actress Award at Filmfare.

Madhuri Dixit



1984–87 Early roles
She made her acting debut in Rajshri Productions' movie Abodh in 1984 opposite the Bengali actor, Tapas Paul.In 1986, Dixit starred in two movies, Swati and Manav Hatya but both films flopped at the box office.
1988–89 Breakthrough
The lead female role of Mohini in N. Chandra's blockbuster Tezaab opposite Anil Kapoor was a breakthrough for her and then she starred in movies like  Ram Lakhan, Prem Pratigyaa and Tridev. She then starred in many blockbuster films.

In 2007 her come back movie  Aaja Nachle earned her the record-setting thirteenth nomination for the Filmfare Best Actress Award.

She also reciver a Flimfare Special Award in honour of her 25years in the Bollywood industry.

In 2012, Madhuri Dixit unveiled her saute at Madame Tussauds London.

Friendship with Shah Rukh Khan is not strained, says Juhi Chawla

Mumbai: Actress Juhi Chawla says there is "no strain" in her friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and that the superstar would be there for her whenever she needs him.

There have been reports of the two no longer being good friends. But, Juhi insists their friendship is strong, contrary to reports.

"It (friendship) is not strained or anything. With our growing lives, schedules we get busy. Like today Madhuri Dixit and I are working for a film because our work has brought us together. Then she will be busy with 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' and I will be busy with my work. How and when we will meet next we don't know," Juhi told 

"If I need something and I call Shah Rukh, I know I will get through him in an instant but I will not trouble him, because I know he is very busy, so I really need not take his time," she said.

Juhi wonders why their friendship is questioned often.

"I feel why it should be? I think it should be left to individuals to decide whether they get along or not, whether there is a connect more than work or not, then you can be friends," she said.

The actress does not feel upset about the reported growing animosity between her and Shah Rukh.

"I feel why it should be said (reported this way). There are friendships and there should be friendships among all," she said.

Apparently, the friction between Juhi and Shah Rukh started when her brother Bobby was replaced with Venky Mysore as the CEO of Red Chillies, without informing the actress.

When asked who are her friends from the film industry, Juhi said, "Whosoever I have worked with...whenever I meet them I will be nice to them, be it Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan or Amrita Singh and others. But it is not that I talk to

them every day and ask what you are doing and all. That doesn't happen."

Shah Rukh and Juhi were seen as one of the best on screen pairs. According to Juhi, the secret behind their chemistry was the sparkling films that they were offered.

She teamed up with the superstar in several movies, including 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman', 'Darr', 'Duplicate', 'Yes Boss' and others. Most of their films have been hit.

On work front, Juhi will be seen next in 'Gulaab Gang', which is loosely based on Uttar-Pradesh based Sampat Pal's 'Gulabi Gang'.

Director Soumik Sen has managed to bring two powerful actresses -- Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla -- on screen for the first time.

While Madhuri is the main lead in the film, Juhi will be seen in a negative role.

Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit will perform Wednesday in Saifai, the ancestral village of Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

The organisers of the annual fair 'Saifai Mahotsava' said the evening will also see stars like Soha Ali Khan and Ranveer Singh.
Two dozen other small and big actors will perform as well at the event which has become a major attraction for the people of the region including Etawah, Mainpuri, Firozabad, Shikohabad and Agra.
It is organised every year in memory of a late nephew of Mulayam Singh Yadav and is attended by film stars, politicians, corporate honchos, ministers and officials.
This year, music composer duo Sajid-Wajid will belt out their chart busters. Chartered planes have been hired for the event to bring in VIPs and film artists.
Last year, Hrithik Roshan performed at the event.
