Vidya Balan: Hope word of mouth pulls off 'Bobby Jasoos'

Her 'Kahaani' rode higher on word-of-mouth publicity and now Vidya Balan hopes for the same to work for her recently released detective drama 'Bobby Jasoos', which sees the actress in the title.

"Every film is unique and each film has its own destiny. We all have worked hard and now it's up to the audience. Women centric films have a slow start, but what is encouraging is that 'Bobby Jasoos' had a great start," said the 36-year-old.

Co-produced by Dia Mirza, the film made an opening day's collection Rs.1.78 crore at the domestic box office.

"We are hoping word of mouth really pulls it off. Besides, there is a huge jump in the numbers. Hopefully, it will be growing. I am happy about the film we have made," she added.

Directed by Samar Sheikh, 'Bobby Jasoos' also features Ali Fazal. The actress tags the film as an "entertaining complete family drama".

"I am enjoying every moment of it because the film is really close to my heart. When people come out of the theatre and praise the film, it feels good. It's very reassuring to hear all the praises. I am thrilled and grateful," she said.

'Bobby Jasoos' tweet review: It's a fun film, keeps one engaged mostly

Over the years, Vidya Balan has created a niche for herself in Bollywood. A genre which has Vidya playing the main protagonist, with a strong author-backed role where she is the hero of the film.
Following the footsteps of 'Dirty Picture' and 'Kahaani', Vidya comes back on the big screen with a similar woman oriented film 'Bobby Jasoos'. Directed by Samar Shaikh and produced by Dia Mirza and Sahil Sangha, the film has Vidya playing a detective in Hyderabad. In a bid to become the best detective of Hyderabad, Bobby takes up some very unique cases and encounters some very interesting people.
The film has already generated a lot of curiosity due Vidya's interesting get ups during promotional events. Music by Shantanu Moitra has also gained popularity.

'Bobby Jasoos' tweet review: It's a fun film, keeps one engaged mostly
A still from 'Bobby Jasoos'.

The film has Ali Fazal, Supriya Pathak, Tanvi Azmi and Kiran Kumar forming the supporting cast.
Post marriage, two of Vidya's film have released- 'Ghanchakkar' and 'Shaadi Ke Side Effects'- and both these films failed to weave magic at Box Office. Will Vidya be able to recreate her old magic once again? Considering she is back once again with a meaty role in a women centric film. Shomini Sen of IBNLive.com is inside the theater to find out.
10.04 AM Its a busy Friday at the theaters with us watching three films. First up, tweet review of #BobbyJasoos. Stay tuned.

11.09 AM Comedy interspersed with mystery. So far a hit combination. #BobbyJasoos
11.22 AM First half of #BobbyJasoos is quite fast paced. Keeps the fun and mystery element intact throughout.
11.38 AM In spite of a considerable age difference Ali Fazal and Vidya Balan actually share a good chemistry. #BobbyJasoos
12.01 PM And Hyderabadi Biryani also makes its appearance. #BobbyJasoos
12.05 PM Narrative is getting a bit jumbled now. #BobbyJasoos
12.06 PM Papon's voice stirs the soul in #Tu. Beautiful composition by Shantanu Moitra. #BobbyJasoos
12.23 PM Why doesn't @alifazal9 do more films in Bollywood? He is genuinely a good actor. #BobbyJasoos
12.27 PM With an extremely talented supporting cast #BobbyJasoos is an enjoyable affair.
12.28 PM While its an out an out Vidya Balan film, the ensemble cast makes #BobbyJasoos special.
12.30 PM Comedy is intact in most part of the film. Its not forced humour. #BobbyJasoos
12.34 PM Also good to see veteran actor Rajendra Gupta and Kiran Kumar doing meaty roles #BobbyJasoos
12.36 PM Only problem with #BobbyJasoos is that it jumbles up majorly in the second half which sort of lessens the impact of an otherwise good film
12.37 PM Final word: #BobbyJasoos is a fun film. Keeps one engaged mostly. Wish the second half was better, though.
12.40 PM Thanks for staying with us throughout the tweet review of #BobbyJasoos. Stay tuned for more movie updates.

When will Vidya fulfil her dream of working with SRK?

Actress Vidya Balan, who has always expressed her desire to work with superstar Shah Rukh Khan, says she would love to work with Shah Rukh provided both the actors' presence in the film is justified.

"If any good script comes where the presence of both the actors (Shah Rukh and I) is justified, then definitely I would love to do," Vidya said at the launch of the blog for her upcoming film "Bobby Jasoos"

Vidya Balan, SRK

With her new film Bobby Jasoos, Vidya Balan is all set to become the first Bollywood heroine to play a detective on screen

Dia’s acidic response

Acid Factory is about horror of discovering true self
The usually reserved Dia Mirza seems to have had enough of being dragged into controversies. While in the Capital recently, the actress made sure she addressed various rumours about her that have been doing the rounds.
Dia

Addressing accusations of being unprofessional and refusing to walk the ramp for her film, Acid Factory, Dia said, “I had not committed to walk for the designer, but only to attend a party hosted the previous evening, which I did. It’s unfair to make me look unprofessional. It was a very wrongly maligned story, but I think people stoop to all kinds of levels to promote their films.” So does she think it was a ploy to market the film? “Absolutely, it’s the marketing people involved with the film who do all this,” she retorted.
The actress is also irked by reports that co-star Irrfan Khan had kissed her on the lips during one of the scenes, when originally he was supposed to plant a kiss on her cheek. “It was absolute rubbish. Irrfan would never do anything that would be considered inappropriate in any situation. He did improvise in a scene, I was surprised, but it was not something I got upset about or created a scene about. Even today, I maintain that he had done nothing to disrespect me, or upset me,” she said.
And did she refuse to be a part of Karan Johar’s I Hate Love Stories because she was being offered a cameo role? “The story that I had signed a contract and then backed out — that was absolutely wrong. I heard the script, and I didn’t think I suited the part,” she clarified.
The actress, who is promoting the Channel [V] show, Kidnap, said if there’s one person she could kidnap, it would be Amitabh Bachchan. “I’m in awe of him. Given his schedule, he’s so busy that we rarely get time to interact. So the ideal thing would be to kidnap him,” she concluded.
