After calling truce, what will Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan do next?

After calling truce, what will Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan do next?

The two Khans have been at loggerheads for as long as anyone can remember
Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have finally made peace after six long years. It’s more than the fans and the snaparazzi that’s over the moon. Pictures and videos of their recent hugs went viral the moment the patch-up happened. But now that it has, here’s what we can expect in this time of peace….

Peace between fans

The two Khans might not have been feuding as much as their fans who took to social networks to wage all-out war all the time. Chalo, ek comment aisa bhi aayega: Itna sannata kyun hai bhai?

Club snub

Remember how you wouldn’t see one group never mix with the other Khan’s buddies? Now it’s going to be all like hum saath-saath hain. Booooooringgg!

Collection clash khatam

More than a Khan film’s content, it’s the collections that gets a nation’s (and the trade’s) pulse racing. Happy New Year or Kick? Will Salman release his film on Diwali (SRK’s special festival release time)? Box office ka king kaun? All these questions will never come up.

Cameo parade

On screen, you saw them come together for OSO’s Deewangi Deewangi track. Since their fallout, they haven’t shot a frame together. But now that Bhai went all out to promote SRK’s HNY on Bigg Boss 8, we guess it’s time King Khan made his debut on the show. Who knows SRK-Kajol might just end up celebrating DDLJ’s 1000th week on BB8! Better still, Salman could recommend SRK for BB9.

Two’s company

Bromance is as old as Andaz Apna Apna or Karan Arjun. And while one rarely sees two-hero outings these days, the bhaigiri was on full show in both films as well as in Salman’s special appearance in KKHH. Somebody put these two actors together already!

Pics and paps

Feud notwithstanding, both Khans posed for the cameras together, grabbing headlines everytime they did so. Twice at politician Baba Siddiqui’s iftaar bashes and once at an awards event last year, their warm hugs showed they were ready for peace. And after the reunion at the Arpita wedding, the two danced the night away at her reception to Chaiyya Chaiyya. The photo-ops in the near future will sure #breaktheinternet!

Trailer thrillers

Cross promotion will be the order of the day with each endorsing the other’s projects. And who knows, sooner rather than later, the two could attach promos of their upcoming films to the other’s releases. Imagine the eyeballs! Salman’s Prem Ratan Dhan Payo trailer hits screens in August next year while SRK’s Fan will be out on Independence Day. And this time, if the two come together, it will be because of the Khans themselves and not the production house (the last time, YRF made it happen.

Aamir as Saying "Yes, I got to know about the patch-up. In fact they didn't let me sleep the entire night."

SRK and Salman kiss Arpita Khan

Aamir has earlier attempted to broker peace between the feuding Khans. And now that the patch-up has finally happened, there was no getting away for Aamir from the post-reunion celebration.
According to the report all the three Khans face-timed at 2:30 am.
In the same report, Aamir said, "Around 1:30 am they first called me and informed about it, then around 2:30 am we did a face-time call. So this went around till early morning and they kept me awake."
According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan patched up few days back at Arpita Khan's pre-wedding ceremony after Salman went and personally invited him to the wedding. The picture where the two of them shared a bhai moment and were seen kissing Arpita went viral.
Reports also suggest that SRK who dropped by to bless the bride-to-be had a discussion with Salman and cleared all their previous differences.
Six years back, SRK and Salman had a major fallout at Katrina Kaif's birthday. Five years later, the duo made former MLA Baba Siddique's Iftar party famous by hugging each other, two years in a row.
It seems, they won't need an Iftar party to do that this year.

Bigg Boss 8: Sushant gets nominated thanks to Upen Patel

The game inside the Bigg Boss 8 house is getting interesting with each passing day. The new phone booth task seems to have taken a toll on everyone.

After Karishma Tanna and Puneet Issar being tortured to sit inside the phone booth and perform tasks, it was housemate Sushant's turn to take the onus. When Sushant went inside the phone booth, he was asked who in the house understands him the most. Sushant without even thinking much takes Upen Patel's name. The mysterious voice on the other side of the phone orders him his first task. The voice tells him to convince Upen to shave his head and become bald. However, to Sushant's misfortune, Upen disagrees to do it and says I will shave off my eyebrow, my chest but not my head. He further says that he's an actor and can't play with his appearance. Upen tells Sushant that he is really close to him and he doesn't need to prove that through a task.

After miserably failing to convince Upen, Sushant is then given another chance to persuade anyone from the boys to shave their heads. However, no one agrees to Sushant's proposal and he fails twice in the same task. As a result of this Sushant gets nominated for next week. Now, even if Sushant is saved from elimination this coming Saturday he will again be nominated next week.

Ajay Devgn Fiercer Than Singham in Action Jackson (Watch Trailer:)

Actor Ajay Devgn goes a step ahead of Singham with his high-octane action sequences and inclusion of a tad bit of Chinese martial arts in the trailer of his upcoming film Action Jackson.

The actor looks rugged, chiseled and fiery as he fights goons and delivers power-packed dialogues like "Main ek hi baar bolta hun, kyunki dusri baar sunne ke liye tu nahi hoga. It's my way or the sky way", "pasand aya toh dil mein, varna dimaag mein bhi nahi" and "Na commitment, na appointment, only punishment."

Ajay Devgn

Do some of those sound familiar to Salman Khan's famous dialogues?

Ajay also presents a never-seen-before on-screen persona of himself, grooving in Prabhu Deva style as he tries to woo actress Sonakshi Sinha in the movie.

Well, the trailer looks all the more interesting as Ajay is seen with three leading ladies in the movie - Sonakshi Sinha, Yami Gautam and Manasvi Mamgai.

While Sonakshi looks chic in the movie, Yami looks pretty in flowy saris and Manasvi raises the glamour quotient with her stunning looks and action sequences.

The trailer of Action Jackson is a complete entertainer. Directed by Prabhu Deva, the movie is set to release on December 5.

Protest against Salman Khan for hurting religious sentiments

There was a protest against actor Salman Khan outside the Kotla Mosque in the capital today for hurting religious sentiments.

Khan's NGO, Being Human, had recently organised a fashion show in Mumbai where a model walked down the ramp wearing a T-shirt on which a word was inscribed in Arabic.

This has hurt the religious sentiment of the Muslim community, according to the complainant Mohammad Asim Mohammad Arif, a resident of Mumbai.

The actor has been booked under IPC Section 295A which is for deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.

Salman Khan's 'Kick' box office collections break Shah Rukh Khan stranglehold on all-time No 3 spot

That there is still some power left in Salman Khan's 'Kick' box office collections is clear from the fact that there is a steady flow of money over the third week too.

That there is still some power left in Salman Khan's 'Kick' box office collections is clear from the fact that there is a steady flow of money over the third week too.

Salman Khan's 'Kick' box office collections have achieved yet another milestone!
Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut film, which has become box office collections highest grosser of 2014, has now beaten Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Chennai Express' (Rs 227.13 crore) record to become the third highest grosser of all time.

Interestingly, 'Chennai Express' recorded a stunning Rs 100.42 crore opening weekend as compared to Kick's earning of Rs 83.73 crore. But subsequent weeks and weekends saw 'Kick' taking the lead over the business of the SRK movie.
That there is still some power left in Salman Khan's 'Kick' box office collections is clear from the fact that there is a steady flow of money over the third week too.
The Salman Khan-starrer collected Rs 1.35 crore on Tuesday and Rs 1.10 crore on Wednesday, capping its domestic collections at Rs 228.08 crore in 20 days. The film had generated Rs 164.09 crore in Week 1 and Rs 51.02 crore in Week 2. While 'Kick' entered the Rs 100 core club on Day 5, it reached the Rs 200 crore mark on the 11th day.
The collections for Week 3, pegged by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, stand at: Friday Rs 1.97 crore, Saturday Rs 2.94 crore, Sunday Rs 3.92 crore, Monday Rs 1.69 crore and Tuesday Rs 1.35 crore with a grand total of Rs 226.98 crore (India).
Adarsh has also declared the film as all-time blockbuster.

Some more records are likely to fall in the near future because of never-say-die performance of 'Kick'. As far as domestic market is concerned, 'Kick' will need to add Rs 16.85 crore more to its kitty to go ahead of Hrithik Roshan's 'Krrish 3' box office collections record and Rs 56.20 crore to challenge the biggest move of them all in Bollywood, Aamir Khan-starrer 'Dhoom 3' - the going will get tough on Friday with the Independence Day (August 15) release of Ajay Devgn's 'Singham Returns', but 'Kick' is still in the running for Bollywood box office pinnacle.
‘Kick’ is produced by the Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment banner. The film is a remake of Telugu film of the same name, with a screenplay adapted by Nadiadwala and Chetan Bhagat.
'Kick' is still performing good at multiplexes

Singham returns to box office with roaring success

Singham Returns

Ajay Devgn-starrer Singham Returns, which raked in Rs 32 crore on its opening day on August 15, upstaged Salman Khan’s Kick, which was the highest opening day grosser for 2014 at Rs 26 crore.

Rohit Shetty, who directed and co-produced the movie, now has two films with more than Rs 30 crore opening day collection — the second one being last year’s Eid release Chennai Express. Singham Returns joins Salman Khan’s 2012 Independence Day release Ek Tha Tiger, Hrithik Roshan’s Krissh 3 and Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 to be in the top five opening day collections by a Bollywood movie.

The film is a sequel to the 2011 film Singham, which starred Ajay Devgn in the titular role, and did very well at the box office raking in Rs 100 crore. Devgn returns as police officer Bajirao Singham in the sequel with Kareena Kapoor playing the female lead and a supporting cast that includes Amol Gupte, Anupam Kher, Dayanand Shetty and Mahesh Manjrekar.

Many factors worked in favour of Singham Returns, say analysts. While the franchise is popular with the masses, thanks to the success of Singham, releasing the movie on a public holiday (Independence Day) has also helped improve footfall. The movie was released in nearly 3,500 screens across India, 500 shy of the 4,000 screens that Kick was released in.

However, Singham Returns, with an average occupancy of 80 per cent on the opening day pan-India, has trumped Kick’s opening day collection. “While Kick missed out on a huge movie going to audience in UP, as it was released on the last Friday of the holy month of Ramzan. In the case of Singham Returns, there was no such barrier and single screens and multiplexes across the country showed healthy occupancy,” say trade pundits.

The movie is expected to continue doing well, as many schools, colleges and offices are closed on Monday on account of Dahi Handi. Singham Returns is a popular movie among the kids as well, which is further expected to drive collections. It should be able to cross the Rs 100-crore mark by Monday night, feel distributors.

Often referred to as the Rs 100-crore director, this could be Shetty’s fifth movie to cross the box office milestone. The other movies include Chennai Express, Singham, Bol Bachchan and Golmaal 3. Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Chennai Express, in fact, kicked off the festive season at the box office last year breaking records and chugging to the Rs 200-crore mark as well.

In the case of Singham Returns, the analysts are not sure if it will cross the 200-crore mark. After the long weekend, the movie will need to sustain collections through the week before it can take advantage of the weekend once again. The current trend in Bollywood is that the first weekend (in this case it is almost four- day long) is the most voluminous in terms of collections and the following weekdays can see a drop of as much as 70 per cent in terms of box office collections. Kick defied this trend earlier last month with steady collections throughout the first week. However, the second week saw a significant dip in revenue.

Singham Returns has been made with a budget of Rs 110-115 crore (including production, prints and advertising). The broadcast rights of the movie have been sold to STAR India under a deal between Devgn and the channel network. The deal, valued at approximately Rs 400 crore, is similar to the network’s agreement with Salman Khan, and gives it the telecast rights to all of Devgn’s movies released between 2013 and 2017. Devgn is also a co-producer on the film along with Reliance Entertainment.

Kick: Salman Khan shows you how to be Super-Human!

Salman Khan's latest outing is a resounding success. While it has the usual elements of great music and stunt scenes, Kick still stands out from his other films.

 A round-up of the performances

Kick is an out and out Salman Khan film! But with a difference. Salman Khan, is a show stealer giving one of his finest performances in the recent past. He is cute as Devi, his character in the film, and fiery as the Devil. Salman’s aura and tremendous energy definitely pulls this otherwise lack-luster plot all the way through. Like most of his masala potboilers, Salman does give Kick the necessary gravitas, but with this film, he goes a step further in trying something outrageously different from a Dabangg or a Jai Ho.

Jacqueline Fernandez seems to have made the best use of what is her career’s biggest film. While her contemporaries have stuck to playing glamorous arm candies, appearing in skimpy clothes and performing an iconic dance number, Jacqueline does all that and a lot more. The uneasiness in her moves is gone, the discomfort with Hindi has vanished. While the first half gives her character a lot more nuance, it’s her chemistry with Salman that is jaw-dropping through the entire film.

Randeep Hooda, is a definite downer. I suppose it could be my sky high expectations from the actor that are to be blamed. But an actor of his caliber, hamming all the way through the film was very disappointing!

If there is one person who stood out performance wise, it has to be Nawazuddin Siddique. With a laugh that sounds pure evil and his menacing mannerisms, Nawaz pulls off a stellar villainous act and leaves us breathless!

Mithun Chakraborty and Salman’s father-son relationship, filled with so much love, trust and belief also stands out.

Direction, Music and Stunts

Debutant director Sajid Nadiadwala doesn’t sound too preachy with Kick but he can definitely do a lot better. In his first directorial venture, he has taken a huge number of risks and pulled them off well. Replete with high dosage of adrenaline pumping action sequences, Sajid Nadiadwala has definitely upped the bar for such films.

The director, however, does waste too much of time in the first half developing the characters, significantly slowing the pace of the film. The film is 20 minutes too long and it feels like there is too long a gap between the climax of the film and its end credits. Also, the emotional angle that the director brings in to help us understand and believe why Devi turns into Devil doesn't hold ground. It's not easy to buy that Salman’s Devi would get a kick from such a thing!

There are several points where you think of Dhoom in the film, because of the similarities to the action franchise. Much of the second half looks too much like Dhoom and is immensely caricaturish.

The music is exemplary and stays with you even after the film is over. From 'Hangover' to 'Jumme Ki Raat', all the songs are beautifully captured on screen and give it the much needed groove. But it is the 'Devil' song which almost made me get up and dance. Nargis Fakhri looked resplendent in this raunchy number and the end credit takes us by surprise altogether.

The stunt sequences by Arasu are deftly pulled off, courtesy a certain Salman Khan, who brilliantly carries off such action with flamboyance and panache. It is the much talked about train segment which brought in the hugest number of ceetees and taalis but the other stunts - be it the chase sequence or the climax - all keep you at the edge of your seat.

Not just another Salman Khan film

Normally, people would go in to watch a Salman Khan film without expecting any story. But Kick is not just another brainless, mindless Salman film. Providing a background to all his characters, Sajid Nadiadwala clearly loops around a story that may not be entirely believable but at least gives his characters a proper reason for what they do in the film.

Of all his other mindless flicks, Kick definitely stands out for the progression it shows in Salman as an actor. Although he’s trying to do different films, with Jai Ho and now Kick on his list, he should do more meaningful ones with more of his heart than his biceps!

Kick is slick, intriguing and entertaining. It is about doing something good for the society; it is about bringing smiles to people’s faces. And finally, Kick is about bringing out the super human in you. And trust me: you need no masks to do that! Go get your Kick this Eid!
