Last month, Deepika Padukone walked the red carpet at Cannes film festival. While for her, it was just a matter of few hours spent in an international arena, back home there were widespread conversations around her moment of glory.
Currently stationed in Mauritius for the shoot of Break Ke Baad, she is modest enough not to get into the details of all the calls and messages, most of which have hailed her saree clad look. Also, she avoids queries that are centred on how she virtually stole the thunder right under Aishwarya Bachchan's nose by bringing in a fresh and new touch to her styling and costume.
"It is not about who wore what, who else was there and who did what", Deepika doesn't quite bite the bait, "I went there just for myself, look my best and make the best of the time that I was there. For me, as long as I have achieved that and given 100%, it doesn't matter who else was there."
One believes though that at the back of the mind, she would have hoped for international filmmakers to catch her presence at the event. After all she was representing Bollywood and hence arc lights were bound to be directed at her. Would she have liked reaching out to global audience through this festival and perhaps look forward to some global assignments coming her way?
"Yes, Why not? If people take notice by themselves and something good comes up then why not? You should use that opportunity if it enters your doors. But if you are asking me if there were any feelers that I got right at the spot then the answer is no", laughs Deepika.
Well, while the wait for international assignments may be a little longer, closer home Deepika is super busy with multiple films in different stages of production. Before the year comes to a close, she would be seen in Ashutosh Gowariker's Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Se (Abhishek Bachchan), Karan Johar's Break Ke Baad (Imran Khan) and Yash Raj Films' Lafange Parinde (Neil Nitin Mukesh).
