Wedding bells for Sindhu Menon

By IndiaGlitz

It’s time for ‘Chandamama’ heroine Sindhu Menon to ring her wedding bells. She recently got engaged to Prabhu, a UK based business man.
Sindhu has acted in all the South Indian languages. Having acted in a couple of Telugu movies including ‘Trinethram’, ‘Srirama Chandrulu’, ‘Aadu Anthe Adho Typu’ with Aryan Rajesh, she was noticed for her role in ‘Chandamama’ directed by ace director Krishna Vamsi
Malayalam as mother tongue and a trained Bharatanatyam dancer, Sindhu made her debut in Kannada at a very young age in the movie ‘Rashmi’.
She got engaged to Prabhu, who’s a native of Kunnamkulam village near Thrissur. He is a successful business man in UK. Currently Sindhu is busy with a couple of projects, and therefore the wedding date has not been announced.

Sunidhi wants to be a mentor on Indian Idol 5

Sunidhi Chauhan
Singer Sunidhi Chauhan who is one of the new judges on the Indian Idol 5, along with Anu Malik and Salim Merchant, wants the prospective singers coming on the show to be able to use every shade of their voices to be successful in the industry where there is tough competition.

Sunidhi wants to lay the emphasis on only the voice quality of the contestants, as opposed to the ‘complete package’ that the earlier seasons of the show have focused on. She feels that if a contestant is at ease singing genres like jazz, contemporary or classical, they will be able to carve a niche for themselves in the industry. Abhijeet Sawant, the winner of Indian Idol season 1, has his own recognition among the public.

The singer wants to be a good judge and help people find their true calling rather than humiliate them, like on a lot of reality shows. She hopes to be a good mentor. Sunidhi states that she has never harbored the dream of becoming an actress some day. She clarifies that she is a singer and would always like to remain a singer.

We suppose the contestants of ‘Indian Idol 5’ can breathe easy as they have Sunidhi. All they need to show is their talent and they’ll be fine.

Hrithik signs Paani; Kristen not yet

Hrithik Roshan and Kristen Stewart
Making a film is never an easy task. Who can say this better than Shekhar Kapur, the acclaimed director of some mega big films, who has finally announced his next titled Paani. The film in question has been in the news for quite some time now, five years to be precise.

However, after this long hiatus, Shekhar will finally be making the film with Hrithik Roshan in the lead. Confirming this is Hrithik's wife Sussanne Roshan's tweet, "H has signed Paani.."

While on the other hand speaking about the rumours of having Kristen Stewart in the film, Shekhar tweets, "Kristen Stewart fr Paani: ppl jumpng to conclusions, she's terrific n lv her, bt we have had just 1 conv so far."

On the other hand, Shekhar will also be directing a biopic of famed English explorer George Mallory to be produced by Hollywood star Julia Roberts and director Kevin Townsend. Kapur confirmed the same at the Cannes Film Festival recently.

With the announcement of his next two films, Kapur is all set to jump back to action again and that's surely good news for the film industry.

Hrithik taught me how to abuse: Barbara

/photo.cms?msid=5868751
By Reshma Kelkar/INDIATIMES MOVIES

Mexican hottie Barbara Mori spills some beans about her relationship with ‘Kites’ co-star Hrithik Roshan.

How did Kites fall in your kitty?
Rakesh Roshan and Anurag Basu met me in LA. Anurag narrated me this story of a Mexican girl and an Indian guy and how their life changes when they fall in love. The story was so beautiful that I fell in love with it and couldn’t say no to Anurag.

Tell us something about your earlier work.
I started working as a waitress when I was 14 years old. I got into modeling at 16 and started acting at 18. I wanted to be a teacher because I love kids but ended up becoming an actor.

How was the experience of working in Bollywood?
It was an exciting and completely new experience for me. Kites has a lot of firsts for me – my first English language film, first Hindi language film and first action film. This is totally different from what I have done earlier.

Did you know about Bollywood earlier?
I had an idea of Bollywood but knew nobody. I had never heard of Hrithik, Shah Rukh or Rakesh Roshan. But I feel fortunate working with Hrithik now because he is a God here and I am surprised and happy that I have worked with someone like him. I am glad to be part of such a big and beautiful film. I never watched Hindi films earlier, forget Hrithik’s. But now I have seen all his films and loved Lakshya and Koi Mil Gaya

Weren’t you wary of the film since you are not familiar with both English and Hindi?
I know a little bit of English but Hindi was completely new to me. Earlier I thought it would be really difficult but Hrithik became my translator on the sets.

Kites promises a lot of action sequences. Was it intimidating?
The underwater scenes were very difficult for me. There were lots of stunts and I was apprehensive at first. But once on sets, my fear disappeared. I wouldn’t deny that the dangerous stunts have been performed by professionals. But I did most of the other stunts myself.

Any homework you had to do for your character?
I studied my character Natasha in Mexico because I couldn’t stay in India for a long time. My family is in Mexico. I prepared mentally and was on diet for 6 months.

How important is love in your life?
Love is the most important thing in my life.

Who was your first love?
I fell in love for the first time when I was 14. Sadly he was a really bad guy. He was Mexican.

After that did you ever fell in love again?
Yes. With my son’s father but we never got married. I have a 12 year son. And I don’t want to get married now.

Who is the most important person in your life?
My 12 year old son – Serjio! I feel mother-son relationship is the most endearing relationship in the world. I live my life with lot of honesty and dignity. I have taught the same to my son.

What do you have to say of your linkup stories with Hrithik?
Nothing! I laugh on it. I have been linked up with all my costars in Mexico so this is nothing new to me. I am used to it. At beginning I used to cry and think why I have been linked up but now I don’t take it seriously.

So how is your relationship with Hrithik and his wife Suzanne?
I met Hrithik when Suzanne was pregnant. I was away from my home but they are so warm people that they made me feel like a family. I am a very emotional girl. When I met the Roshan family, I fell in love with them. Hrithik and Suzzanne will always be in my heart. I went out with Suzzanne many times. We are good friends. I had been to their place for dinner many times. The food was so spicy that I couldn’t eat it. So the next time they diluted the spice with more sweet texture to the menu.

What is the one thing you learnt from Hrithik?
Hrithik taught me abuses like ‘ ullu ke pathe ’ and lines like ‘ main tumse pyaar karti hoon ’ though I didn’t knew the meaning of it for a long time.

Have you got any other offers post Kites?
I haven’t got any offers yet. Only Anurag Basu has offered me his next film.

Isn’t your brother also in India?
My brother has been living in India since a year. He is a singer and wants to make a career in music. But I want to go back to Mexico. I will come back whenever work calls. I want to come to India for vacations. I am fascinated by the country. I have seen Goa and want to see Taj Mahal now.

What do you think about Indian culture?
Indian culture is so different from Mexico. A single mother is not an issue in Mexico but here it is.

Raavan's character is a discovery for me: Aishwarya Bachchan

Aishwarya Bachchan
So at last the long wait for Mani Ratnam’s Raavan seems to have come to an end. Film Raavan’s music launch was held recently with great pomp and show. Live performances by Abhishek Bachchan were indeed exuberant. While Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan draped in a glittery white sari with red border not only added a serene look to her beauty but added loads of charm to her persona. Ash anchored the event with great poise although managed it at a short notice indeed. She had just flown from abroad.

A brief chit-chat with Lipika Varma from Sampurn Media follows-

Ash literary seems to be in awe with Mani Ratnam who launched her in Iruvar in 1997. “I must thank and credit Mani sir for having conceptualized this awesome character for me. I had it all for me. My character Ragini has to perform dances, stunts as well as facing the brunt of the weird character Raavan. Believe me; I had to perform in the dense, dark and a dangerous forest crawling with snakes, leeches and all the possible creepy critters. Mani sir would wake us up at sharp 5a.m. All of us would go on a Reiki and come back by eight and had to be ready for our first shot. Mani sir is so polite he would always say ‘be your real self’. Laughs aloud and adds, “We had to perform our real self amidst the snakes, leeches and the other creepy animals. But I must thank Mani sir for making me look so very real without a pinch of make up.”

She goes on to add about her character that, “Ragini is a power-packed character in the sense that I had to be doing every bit myself [which of course was my choice] right from the stunts to getting muddy and swinging all over the sea side holding a rope. Not only this, we would also perform in horrifying climatic conditions with rain pouring cats and dogs. But it was fun, pleasure and work rolled into one. Nonetheless, Mani Sir would be standing at all odd hours to our rescue.

“Secondly this character is a discovery for me - in true sense that I discovered my new self."

Well! Can her character be compared to Sita then, we quiz? “Actually this film can not be compared to any mythology as such. The title Raavan has been taken just because he behaves badly. There is no co-relation to any epic as such. This Raavan is a man who can also have good qualities as well as bad qualities. At one moment he can be acting as a cool dude while the very next moment he can be behaving in an obnoxious manner. Yes! On reel Abhishek performs in an imbalanced manner. But by the end of the day we are husband and a wife we do not discuss much about our filmy affairs once we are off the set. So all the discussions pertaining to our characters would begin the moment we stepped onto the set only.”

Was Abhishek not fearful of Ash performing such dangerous stunts? “It was our choice and to tell you the fact we enjoyed doing it all by ourselves. Although Mani sir did not want his actors to perform any such stunts. One thing I liked about Mani sir he would tell me ‘look how fast Abhi and the others can do the dance steps and other serious stunts’?” she replied to Abhishek’s answer while Abhi told us that Mani sir always praised Ash’s quick responses.”
In short, both husband and wife [Abhishek and Ash] seemed to be in total awe of Mani Ratnam. To this the quick witted Ash replies, “Yes! To an extent that while I was busy shooting with Mani sir for Guru he kept visualizing me in the character [Ragini] which had started conceptualizing in his mind at the time of making Guru.

Coming to her dancing style Ash says, “I really enjoyed dancing in this movie. At times I would just freak out dancing, keeping in mind the wonderful dancing style of Waheeda Rehman in film Guide. I had a lot of fun, satisfaction for a simple reason that Mani sir would ask us to just perform in the most casual manner, enjoying the character but yet it had to be so very real.”

Talking about the so called assumption by the media, that Raavan has 4 climaxes. However, Ash denies the story rubbishing it and tabooing it to be a cooked tale. “Infact Mani sir is one director who would not like to leave any scenes unfinished. He loves to complete a scene in totality before going to another”

She further adds, “I had to face the challenge of performing both in Hindi as well as Tamil. It is not an easy task. If Mani sir would recollect something of Hindi take he would immediately ask us to shift to Hindi dialogues while we would be busy muttering our Tamil dialogues. I would understand my Tamil dialogues and also would learn the dialogues of my co actor in order to emote accordingly. So all in all switching in and out of these two languages was challenging and interesting indeed.

Having got married to the Bachchans’ family Ash says, “When a girl comes into another family it is her responsibility to keep up to the family status. So yes! Like any other married ladies she too is professional. She has to become even more mature after getting married.” “My professional and family liabilities are different but I need to handle both with enough care to strike a balance between the two. I am also luck y to have got married into a family who have supported me and my career fully well.”

It is time to wait and watch out for one of the biggest movies to hit the screens this year, and after the Music Launch, the anticipation graph has shot skywards!

Katrina is Priyanka not Sonia

By IndiaGlit

It’s Priyanka Vadra not Sonia Gandhi styling and smiling that has been adopted by our London beauty in her Bollywood duty Katrina in her forthcoming political drama ‘Raajneeti’.
Katrina says her look in ‘Raajneeti’ was modelled more on Priyanka Vadra than Sonia Gandhi. Katrina Kaif says that she watched election campaign videos of the UPA chairperson’s daughter Priyanka Vadra to get the right look and body language for the film. “Priyanka is a young, strong, independent and modern leader with the right blend of values. My character is not based on her. I just watched her campaign videos to observe her body language and how she campaigns and interacts with the crowds,” Katrina explained.
So guys Kats has just adopted the style and the dressing technique of Priyanka Vadra (yup she do has a fine dressing sense we admit) and she is not playing Sonia Gandhi in the movie.
Ok ok, agreed madam, but please tell us who is Robert Vadra in the movie……… Ranbir…..?

Shahrukh and I share amazing chemistry – Kareena

Kareena Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan
By: Upala KBR
Kareena Kapoor is paired with Shahrukh Khan in his latest home production. She was also his co-star in his second production Asoka. On the second day of shooting, she gets nostalgic...

They are paired together in his home production Ra.1directed by Anubhav Sinha. The last film they had acted opposite each other was another SRK's home production - Asoka(2001).

She squeals excitedly from Goa, "After Asoka, we worked together in K3Gbut we weren't paired romantically. I did a song with him in Don and Billu. Ra.1 is his most ambitious project yet.”

She continues, "We share an amazing chemistry. When Shah Rukh and I shot yesterday the spark was there - it was as if no time had passed sinceAsoka. And it's been almost a decade."

Not surprised
Kareena says that she wasn't surprised when SRK offered her the role inRa.1. "He spoke to me about the part when we were shooting for Marjaani song in Billu. He told me he was working on a super hero flick and was very excited about it. Then one day he called me and asked me if I would be a part of his film. When Anubhav narrated the script, I realised it had all the making of a blockbuster. I am really excited about my role. Though it's a fantasy film I have no stunts to do in the film. My character is that of a married woman and have a different look in the film."

Gush factor
She adds that she hasn't noticed any changes in Shahrukh's working style even after a decade, "He is hard working and very encouraging. I have never seen him sitting and doing nothing. Either he's discussing something with the director or cameraman or scriptwriter. He's so energetic and involved, that for me it's a huge effort to match up to his energy levels."

While Shahrukh remains one of her personal favourites amongst the Khans (SRK, Salman, Aamir, Saif) Kareena refuses to name one as her all-time favourite actor. "They all have truly unique and diverse personas (SRK's is magnetic, Aamir is a genius, Saif has an international Hollywood appeal and Salman is spontaneous) so it's unfair to choose any one as my favourite. The Khans are ruling the industry today and I am lucky to have worked with all of them."

His chivalry
Bebo is clearly impressed with her hero, and admires him most for his chivalry, "I remember his chivalry when I first met him when I was nine years old (at one of Karisma's shows in Muscat) and he is still the same. He is so protective and caring towards women that is hard not to be charmed. From a wide-eyed nine-year-old to playing his wife - it's been great to know Shahrukh. It's fun to be on a set with him. I feel at home on his sets as I can say and do anything that I want. He tells me that I look the best in his movies and I agree with that. He takes extra special care in everything and I feel so touched."

Today Kareena will take a chartered flight from Goa to Delhi to launch a new cell phone. The phone will also launch her interactive fan groups on Twitter and Facebook where Kareena will be seen chatting with her fans on the websites once a week.

Aishwarya's films in safe hands

Aishwarya Bachchan
By: Subhash K. Jha
Aishwarya Bachchan has three very different releases coming up this year. And the most speculated question in the industry right now is, which performance would Aishwarya get all the popular awards for, the one in Mani Ratnam's Raavan or Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish?

Those who have seen rushes of the two films say she has given her career's best performance in both. Then she has Vipul Shah's Action Replayy where she has attempted a full-on comic role for the first time.

"Of course, comedy which is the hardest genre to do, is not taken seriously at the awards. But in my film, Aishwarya has done comedy for the first time. She may have attempted it here and there earlier. But this is her first full-fledged comedy role. But she's welcome to get the awards for her other two releases, I don't mind," says Vipul Shah wryly.

While Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Guzaarish will release in November, the two Aishwarya projects Mani Ratnam's Raavan and Vipul Shah's Action Replayy are due in quick succession within a month.

While Mani's Raavan is due for release June 18, Vipul was all set to release Action Replayy a month later in July, arguing that the two films are completely different in mood theme and treatment.

But now it seems better sense has prevailed, thanks to the bitter experience that Vipul went through last year when his Salman Khan starrerLondon Dreams was released a month after Salman's home productionMain Aur Mrs Khanna. Then too Vipul had argued that two films with the same actor do not overlap when the films belong to the same genre. Now apparently Vipul has seen sense. He plans to sit down with Mani Ratnam and figure out a release strategy whereby neither film suffers.

Says Vipul, "Raavan and Action Replayy are very different films. And I thought I'd come in July. But I think I'll now discuss it with Aishwarya and Mani Ratnam. We need to work as one big family in this industry. Besides I still have a song to shoot whereas Raavan is complete. I've yet to figure out when I can shoot it because both Aishwarya and Akshay are constantly travelling. We were supposed to shoot it earlier this year in the snow in Manali. Now we may go higher up at the Rohtang Pass, or change the location for the song completely."

In the meanwhile those fearing competition from Guzaarish can breathe easy. Contrary to rumours, Sanjay Leela Bhansali won't be releasing it in Diwali. After Saawariya, which was released during Diwali, he no longer considers the festive season auspicious for his films.

Aishwarya gets wet in rain

It’s difficult to kill two birds with a single stonebut Aishwarya Bachchan has done just that. She shot Mani Ratnam’s Raavan in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously. And she can’t stop talking about it. She revealed that she plays a non-glamorous role but got drenched in rain with mud all over.

She plays a classical dance teacher in the film and gets cosy with Vikram, who plays her hubby. She revealed that her character is strong and speaks her mind like a modern woman. She added that it was a challenge shooting simultanerously in Hindi and Tamil.

Aishwarya acts with her hubby Abhishek Bachchan, South Indian actor Vikram and Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishan in Raavan. This film produced by Reliance BIG Pictures and Madras Talkies is scheduled for release on June 18.

Shahrukh Khan reveals the meaning of Ra.1

Shahrukh Khan
By: Nikhil Ramsubramaniam
This year is likely to see the release of two big films with similar sounding titles. Yes, we are indeed referring to Mani Ratnam's Raavan and Shahrukh Khan's home production Ra.1. However, the two similar sounding films are as different as chalk and cheese when it comes to their plotlines. While Mani's Abhi-Ash starrer is a modern-day adaptation of the mythological epic Ramayan, SRK's flick is a highly stylise film with a lot of gizmos and gadgets.

Coming to Ra.1, while it is known that SRK plays a super-hero kind of character in the film, what is not known is the fact that the title Ra.1 is the acronym for 'Random Access-Version One'. This fact has been confirmed by the superstar himself on Twitter. Says SRK, "Ra.1 means randon access version one, will understand when u see the film. Ra.1 site will be up soon/have no film with Kajol or Yashji right now/don't dance too well, I just try hard/I am the hero in Ra.1."

Meanwhile with his close friend and CEO of Red Chillies Entertainment- Bobby Chawla still admitted in the hospital, SRK has to even manage all the work related to production of Ra.1. SRK tweets, "Yes...wish Bobby my friend gets well sooner than soon. He is still in the hospital & the film is so difficult in terms of production."

Looks like Ra.1 is indeed taking a toll on SRK as he not only has to perform some heavy duty action sequences but also has to manage all aspects related to production.

Aishwarya heading south for greener pasture!

Aishwarya Bachchan
We have had South Indian stars doing Bollywood films and vice versa. Bollywood beauty Aishwarya Bachchan is reportedly planning to do a couple of Kollywood films. The stunner is no stranger to Tamil having debuted in Mani Ratnam’s Iruvar in 1997. She was raw debutant then. Today, she is a sophisticated star and one of the Bollywood's top heroines.

The actress has come full circle since those times. After almost a decade, two of Aishwarya’s upcoming projects will have Tamil versions. Raavan and Robot will be dubbed in Tamil asRavana and Endhiran respectively. These are her most ambitious Kollywood ventures so far, though she has done films like Jeans andKandukondain Kandukondain.

In Raavan, she teams up with hubby Abhishek and mentor Ratnam while inRobot, she will be seen with Rajinikanth. A Tamil coach tutored her on the language and diction for Raavan. She wooed everyone by dubbing for her own lines. She also got the tone and accent right! For Robot, it was Rajini himself who gave her lessons. A source revealed that Ash is a fast learner. Though she found it difficult at first, she was able to rattle off lengthy dialogues with ease!

This has made the diva more confident about doing Tamil projects. She loves Tamil films as they are technically and script-wise very rich. When asked about it, she stated that she has to understand the dialogues before delivering them. She dislikes mugging dialogues without knowing what she is saying. So she made special efforts to learn the nuances of Tamil before embarking on these projects. The results are there for everyone to see! Vannakam anyone?

Sajid Nadiadwala is confident about Housefull

Sajid Nadiadwala
Sajid Nadiadwala is confident about Housefull. After all the film reunites him with his buddies like Sajid Khan, Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh with whom he has shared a great personal and professional rapport over the years. As the film maker says in his own words - 'Yahan toh dil mile hue hain!'

"Exactly", smiles Sajid, "First film can be an accident ki chaliye aapne apna kaam kar liya; after that if you come together then it speaks volumes for that person. This second instance is always a choice because agar aap doosri baar kisi se mil raha ho toh matlab there has been something worthwhile. This is the reason why after Heyy Babyy, we all are together again with Housefull."

It is not just this new team with whom Sajid has shared good relationship over the years. There are many other prominent names with whom Sajid has continued to make films repeatedly.

"Whether it is Raj Kanwar, David Dhawan, Akshay Kumar or Salman Khan; we have worked with each other repeatedly. I am in the business of film making but then relationships count in a big way for me as well", says Sajid.

Meanwhile, he continues to be extremely fond of Sajid Khan who didn't just turn out to be the first debutant director ever to deliver a 50 crores film (Heyy Babyy) but is also super confident that Housefull would at the least double these collections.

"Mr. (Sajid) Khan is one of those guys who does his job in an envelope of humour. We never come to know about his exercise of working because he is such a fantastic captain of the ship. There were times when actors were not shooting for 10 days at stretch but he still used to keep them involved in something productive", details Sajid.
He adds with a smile, "Basic feather in the cap of a technician is when he repeats the producer and vice versa; this means that there is a favourable relationship building. Sajid is someone who does the producer's job of keeping things in check. I have worked with many film makers but effort reduces by 70-80% when Sajid Khan is directing a film."

Salman-Katrina hottest couple, SRK actor of the decade: Poll

By IANS

NEW DELHI: Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif may be tight-lipped about their relationship status, but they have been voted the hottest couple of the decade in a poll by MSN India that also declared superstar Shah Rukh Khan the actor of the decade.

Of the 38,648 readers who responded for 'Hottest couple of the Decade' category, 36 percent opined that Salman and Katrina made for a greater couple than Abhishek-Aishwarya who got 27 percent votes, followed by Bipasha and John with 13 percent votes while Kareena and Saif got only six percent votes.

Imran Khan sweats out for bare-chested scene

Imran Khan
By: Upala KBR
You will see Imran Khan as if you have never seen him before. After SRK in Om Shanti Om, and Aamir Khan in Ghajini, this bare-chested Khan is sending temperatures soaring with his new lean body. Imran presently has just seven per cent body fat - the same as top international athletes.

The actor will be seen in this new avatar in his film I Hate Luv Storys that releases on July 2. The Jaane Tu... boy who has always been more 'brain' than 'body' (that's changed for good now), built the physique at the behest of his director.

How I did it
Imran says, "Karan had wanted a certain look for the photo shoot and the bare -chested scene in the film. We had a break for a month as Sonam was shooting for Aisha. I started working out at that time. My trainer Yasmin Karachiwala and I worked out a different diet and exercise regime for those 30 days. My diet consisted only of steamed veg and fish and brown rice.

Three days before the shoot, I cut salt intake in my food as that decreases the water content in the body. A day before the shoot, I completely stopped taking salt. A lot of actors do what I did to tone their body for a film but it's not healthy. I would work out twice a day.

In the morning, I would do pilates while in the evening, I would do strength training and functional training. I get bored of working out in the gym but I enjoyed functional training which is real life workouts doing stuff we would do in real life. After the shoot, I went to Don Giovanni in Juhu at night and gorged on lasagne."

It took a whole month!
I Hate Luv Storys director Punit Malhotra says, "I wanted Imran to pump it up a little more - have a kind of boy-man look. He took the whole month to train for the shoot and had regular workouts with his trainer and followed a strict diet. He was feeling miserable that entire month but the results are worth all that pain."

He adds that one of the best scenes in IHLS has Imran in a bare-bodied shot. "He has a bare-chested scene in the film wearing track pants and he's looking very hot!"

SRK's friends call him 'problem child'

By Indo-Asian News Service

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan says his friends have started calling him a "problem child" for his constant brush with controversies.

"My friend just called me a 'problem child'... always in trouble. I think it is true...it would be so boring to be a 'solution adult'," Shah Rukh posted on his Twitter page.

In wake of allegations of financial irregularities in the Indian Premier League (IPL), income tax officials had visited Shah Rukh's Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) office in Kolkata and claimed to have unearthed vital clues.

The superstar is hoping that clouds of suspicion and uncertainty will soon be over.

"IPL controversy: fast, furious and too much noise. Like the T20 itself. Hope it gets resolved as fast too for our friend Lalit & franchises," added the actor.

Priyanka finds 'Saat Khoon Maaf' role most difficult

By Indo-Asian News Service

National Award winning actress Priyanka Chopra says her role in Saat Khoon Maaf is the toughest project she has ever taken up.

"I have been so lost ... this film ... Saat Khoon Maaf is taking the mickey out of me ... the most difficult role of my life," Priyanka, who won the best actress National award for her powerful performance in Fashion, wrote on her Twitter page.

Saat Khoon Maaf is being directed by Vishal Bharadwaj. In the film, Priyanka has seven husbands - while Naseeruddin Shah plays her oldest spouse, Neil Nitin Mukesh has just been signed to play the youngest.

The actress was previously seen in Bharadwaj's production venture Kaminey.

Preview: Pankh

By Indo-Asian News Service

Taking flight after almost two years, Bipasha Basu's much-awaited movie Pankh, which traces the gender dilemma in a young man who falls in love with an imaginary alter ego, is all set for a Friday release.

"Pankh is a wild ride through the underbelly of the film industry," said film's producer Sanjay Gupta.

Directed by Sudipto Chattopadhyay, it stars debutant Maradona Rebello along with Mahesh Manjrekar, Lillette Dubey, Ronit Roy, Sanjeeda Sheikh and newcomer Amit Purohit.

"This was a story that needed telling. It is a film that will touch every sensitive soul.Pankh is Bollywood's wildest take so far," Chattopadhyay had said.

Pankh revolves around Baby Kusum, a child star. But not many know that in reality Baby Kusum is a boy masquerading as a girl.

He was christened Jerry and then named Master Jai for the movies. Once the boy reaches adolescence, he becomes a drug abuser who has never been to school and spends all his time at home. He and his mother Mary share a turbulent relationship because of his cross dressing.

As a youth, Jerry (Rebello) meets his dream woman, Nandini (Bipasha), causing another inner turmoil. Nandini is the fantasy woman who Jerry conjures up in his head - he sees her as a phantom who taunts him and fights with him and as an alter ego who questions his every move.

The final blow, however, comes when Jerry is made to face the camera again as a young man, which leads to the catastrophe.

Considering that Bipasha plays an imaginary character in the film, she sports nine different looks that reflect the attitude and mood of the hero.

According to Bipasha, whenever Maradona feels vulnerable, she has been given a soft look and whenever he is agitated or in self doubt, she is made to look harsh.

Bipahsha also feels that designing her look was the complete teamwork of designer Rocky S, Chattopadhyay and Gupta, who were instrumental and involved in designing the right look to match the attitude of the character.

Also releasing Friday are Tum Milo Toh Sahi and Sadiyaan.

Power corrupts, I can't enter politics: Ajay Devgn

By Indo-Asian News Service

Power corrupts people and you need to be shrewd and play games to be in politics, says Ajay Devgn. While the actor will be seen playing a politician in the filmRaajneeti, he says he can never be one in real life.

"I can't enter politics because I am not cut out for it. I won't be able to manage it. You have to be very shrewd, smart and you need to know to play games even if you want to do good politics to counter the bad people. I don't think I am cut out for that," said Ajay in an interview.

In the film Yuva too, he had portrayed a character who is young but jumps into the political fray.

"I personally think that politics is not bad...in the sense people in politics turn out to be bad. Politics is important for the nation and good politics is very important to run the world. If right people come to politics, the country will prosper.

"I think power corrupts people. People who want to do good things...once they come to power, all become corrupt. You can't just blame the politicians. Where do they come from? From our society, we bring them. If they become corrupt, then we are corrupt, society is corrupt. Whom do we blame?"

Prakash Jha's Raajneeti gives an incisive look at the electoral politics of India and digs into the unscrupulous motives of the politicians behind their pledge of reformation.

Ajay Devgn says his character in the film is inspired by Karna in the epicMahabharata

"Mine is not a negative character. He does things as the character is supposed to do. The characters are inspired by the Mahabharata. And I am playing the character of Karna. Karna was someone who was on the wrong side, knowing that he is on the wrong side...," Ajay said.

"When he was asked to come to the right side, he knew he could come and be the boss, but he refused. He was selfless only for a promise he had made and that's what my character is all about," he added.

The dark political drama also stars talented performers like Manoj Bajpai, Naseeruddin Shah, Nana Patekar, Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

There were reports that Katrina's character was modelled on Congress president Sonia Gandhi, but Ajay says the film has no resemblance to real life politicians.

"I think that no incident in the film or the characters are inspired from any real political incident. Not that I can pinpoint any particular incident. But when you see the film, you will be shocked to see real motives that we people don't understand. We read newspapers where we are told that this has happened because of this reason and we understand that. When you see the film, you will know that it gets dirtier," he said.

After Raajneeti, Ajay will be seen in a new look in the third installment of laugh riotGolmaal, but he is reluctant to reveal any details about his look and character so early.

"I have been told not to talk about Golmaal 3. I can only say it has no resemblance to its earlier films. It's a hardcore comedy. When you see the film, you will come to know why I have taken this look," he said.

Khushboo pre-marital sex comments: All cases dismissed

By NDTV Correspondent

Actor Khushboo has won a long and tough legal battle with the Supreme Court ruling in her favour.

The Supreme Court has dismissed 22 cases filed against her in various parts of Tamil Nadu for remarks that she made about pre-marital sex in an interview to a magazine in 2005.

khushboostory.jpgThe Madras High Court had ordered that the different cases against her be consolidated and dealt with in a joint trial.

Speaking to NDTV, Khushboo said, "When you look around, every celebrity is pinned down for no rhyme or reason...and that is quite a harassment. I knew what I had spoken...it's not an easy task for a woman to stand alone and say 'I believe in what I have spoken'."

Khushboo says that her original interview to a magazine was misquoted in a Tamil newspaper, and this incorrect report provoked the different cases against her. She said her remarks about pre-marital sex and living together were made as part of a discussion on AIDS and HIV.

"A woman and actor combined together made a statement that made sense...and that was the problem, I think," she said.

Actresses are not friends: Katrina

By Press Trust of India

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who is all set to make a splash in her upcoming flimRaajneeti, says her mentor-turned-boyfriend Salman Khan was always sure of her doing well and making a mark for herself in the tinsel town.

"Apart from guiding me, Salman had confidence in me. He is not the person to say that because he is friendly with you. He will say it genuinely," said Katrina.

The 25-year-old actress feels that it was her destiny that she came into the Hindi film industry and succeeded. She has many people to thank for her soaring career here.

"There are too many people whom I can call my godfather. I am grateful and indebted to them. Even Akshay Kumar took a risk in working with me initially," she said.

"He did not know me at all. He was at crossroads of his career. When he did 'Namastey London', people thought he had gone insane. Nobody is going to damage or destroy himself to help somebody else. Salman and Akshay believed in me and that is my good fortune and destiny," she said.

Katrina says the fact that her earlier films did well at the box office was a "miracle", helping her weave the success story.

"Had those films failed, nobody could have done anything for me. I don't think I would have got a second chance if the movies bombed," she said.

The actress is appalled at how the media romantically links everyone with anyone.

"By doing this, media is discounting its own credibility. It is not possible to have so many link ups. This is the film industry and not a dating industry. One cannot be that fickle. We also have morals. Our professions may be different.. even an infatuation does not change that fast," she said apparently referring to her rumoured relationship with co-star Ranbir Kapoor.

Also, Katrina does not believe that on screen chemistry between two co-stars makes a film work.

"It is the film that works. I and Salman worked in Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya and Partnerwhich were successes, but Yuvraj crashed," she pointed out.

On co-stars, she said, "Akshay and I complement each other well."

Katrina feels that finding good friends was a very difficult task in the film industry.

"It's a reality, actresses are forced to accept. You can be friends with a director and he may not take you in his next film. You may find people who you counted on, not standing by you during your low phase. One has to be careful on what basis you are building your friendships," she said.

On vibes she shares with other top Bollywood actresses, Katrina says, "Actresses are not friends because there is no time. We are too much into each other's space to be friends, but I am cordial with Preity Zinta, Kareena and Priyanka and we hang out whenever we meet."

Katrina said she started working at a very young age. "I am aware that I have to figure my path from here as an individual and as a woman, about the decisions I have to
take in life."

To a question on her comments that she would get married in two years, Katrina said, "I don't know why I said that. Its said that man proposes and god disposes. I may have this lovely plan but who knows two years from now we may be sitting in this same room discussing a new film or my wedding."

The actress said it was just a thought.. "waking up with a silly dream in my head."

On her accented Hindi posing a bit of a problem, the actress said, "Every one speaks with an accent. For Raajneeti, I wanted to erase the accent during dubbing especially for difficult words. Even Arjun Rampal did not know the meaning of the word Aadyashakti which I knew."

Katrina said even though it has not been stated in clear terms, her character in the film, which is a rich, spoilt brat, has probably studied abroad.

Katrina, Hrithik in Zoya's next

By Press Trust of India

Katrina Kaif will be seen romancing Bollywood heartthrob Hrithik Roshan for the first time in Zoya Akhtar's film Zindagi Milegi Na Dubara.

The actress, who has given several hits with superstar Akshay Kumar and has shared screen space with top Bollywood actors including Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, says she is mighty excited to work with him.

"It's a brilliantly written script and I am looking forward to working with Hrithik. I don't know him at all. The film will go on floors in three weeks from now after the release of Kites. The movie has the ability to emerge as a progressive new cinema," said Katrina.

The title Zindagi... works very much in favour of the movie as it is a fun, youthful film...telling that you get a chance to live only once, she said.

Katrina said she essays the character of a free spirited girl in the film who is an inspiration to Hrithik, Farhan AKhtar and Abhay Deol.

"She lives her life without fear," she said.

On reports that she is part of the UTV's film on legendary singer Kishore Kumar, Katrina said since she has a two-film contract with UTV, the company is bound to discuss
their projects with her.

"It is too premature to talk about it," she said.

Graveyard shift for Gurinder Chaddha

The promotional strategy to mark the release of Gurinder Chaddha’s film It’s a Wonderful Afterlife has gone for a toss.

The event was to be held at the Mahalaxmi Catholic graveyard. But even though permissions were given by the authorities, the BMC has refused to give permissions, resulting in a no show for them.

Our source said, “The film is about a mother’s desperate attempt to get her daughter married, but with a twist. There are a lot of ghosts or spirits accompanying the mother. So, the producers, Studio 18, thought of hosting an event that would highlight this aspect. Gurinder is flying down to India on April 28 for the event and the release. The occasion was planned as it went well with the film’s theme, but now it has braked to a sudden halt.”

Hemant Bharadwaj of Studio 18, who is marketing and distributing the film in India, said, “It’s a new genre in India, in England this genre is famous - comedy with a horror twist. We wanted to highlight this aspect. However, local authorities felt otherwise.”

Maybe in another life, eh!

'I watched Priyanka Vadra to get Rajneeti look'

Contrary to speculations that her role inRaajneeti is inspired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Katrina Kaif says that she watched election campaign videos of the UPA chairperson's daughter Priyanka Vadra to get the right look and body language.
"Priyanka is a young, strong, independent and modern leader with the right blend of values. My character is not based on her. I just watched her campaign videos to observe her body language and how she campaigns and interacts with the crowds," Katrina said.
The 25-year-old actress said that she is not playing Sonia Gandhi in Prakash Jha's political thriller. She said she has not modeled her look on any politician.
"Prakashji himself chose the sarees I wore as a politician. Every body knows I spent my early years in England and my mother is English and even Sonia Gandhi has a foreign connection. So the comparison was logical."
Katrina said she had her initial apprehensions before accepting the film as there was no song, dance, romance which she enjoys a lot.
"When I first heard the script during the making of New York, I made up my mind the refuse the film. I felt this was not my kind of space. Why should I do serious films which I don't enjoy. I had only heard about Prakash Jha's reputation," she said.
"When I heard the narration from him during our meeting, I realised that this film has as much excitement as any other film I am doing. I realised that I was being prejudiced towards Prakashji and did not like it," Katrina recalled.
Speaking about the film, Katrina said Raajneeti itself is a very popular subject. "Politics is not just about what's happening in the government or the Lok Sabha...it's about politics in life, families and relationships," she added.
Katrina said there was also a paradox between the characters of the epicMahabharata. "The characters in the film and the epic share the same character traits and complexities," she said.
The actress said the political side of her character comes in much later in the film."My character refuses to accept that the person she loves does not reciprocate her feelings. She has no self respect in love," Katrina said.
"In real life, all of us experience rejections, sometimes in hurtful ways. I was honest to myself as I could while saying the character Indu. One has to find a connect to the character you are essaying," she said.

SRK, Akshay might act together

By Indo-Asian News Service

Bollywood presenter-turned-director Sajid Khan doesn't deny his dream project is to get Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar together in the lead for a film but only when he has the right script.

"The day I have a script that can carry both Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan (in the lead), I'll come out with it. Both are superstars and who wouldn't like to work with both of them in their film," said Sajid.

"I adore Shah Rukh as a fan and Akshay is my brother. But it will take a lot of time as I will write my next script in six months and then approach them... so it's a lengthy process as of now," he added.

Akshay also said the same.

"These things take time. He will first write the script that will take time and then approach us and then we'll give out the dates. So it's at least more than a year-and-half away even if everything falls in place," said the actor.

Shah Rukh and Akshay have been seen earlier in Dil Toh Pagal Hai and Heyy Babyybut never as parallel leads. While the former had Akshay in a cameo, the latter saw Shah Rukh in a special appearance only for a song.

Sajid and Akshay were here at the DT Cinemas, DLF Promenade Tuesday evening to promote Housefull. Also present with them was the other star cast of the movie including Riteish Deshmukh, Arjun Rampal, Deepika Padukone and Jiah Khan.

Lara Dutta who also plays a pivotal role in the movie did not make it to the event. Releasing Friday, the movie has been produced by Sajid Nadiadwala.

Aamir appointed brand ambassador

NEW DELHI: The Centre on Tuesday appointed Bollywood star Aamir Khan as the brand ambassador for sanitation to promote cleanliness in all CBSE schools.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Ministry of Urban Development have jointly launched the National School Sanitation Initiative at a function here with the objective of bringing about much-needed behavioural change, key to success of any sanitation-related initiative.
Aamir Khan, who created a public opinion on education with his films ‘Taare Zameen Par’ and ‘3 Idiots’, said that he would hold talks with both the HRD and Urban Development Ministry officials on how to promote sanitation in schools.
HRD Minister Kapil Sibal said, “We are happy to have Aamir Khan as our brand ambassador. We hope, he will help this scheme become a success. Health and wellness clubs will be set up in schools. These clubs will instil among children values of good health and sanitation.”
Underlining the importance of children’s participation in the programme, Kapil Sibal wanted them to take the lead and inspire all towards high standards of sanitation.

I won't marry this year: Imran Khan

By Prithwish Ganguly / DNA
During his engagement in January to girlfriend Avantika Malik, actor Imran Khan could not actively participate in the arrangements because he was busy with his shooting commitments. However, he wants to make up for that during his wedding. Imran wants to wrap up all work much before D-Day and take a long break post marriage.

He says, “I was in the middle of shooting and thus I could not be a part of any planning for my engagement. I just knew about the big decisions. I got engaged on January 16 and the next day I had to fly to New Zealand for shooting. That was not such a nice thing.”
He adds, “So, I had a word with Avantika and we spoke to our parents and decided that we won’t marry this year. I will wrap up everything and then concentrate single-mindedly on my wedding. It is a special occasion and I don’t want to think about anything else. I will take a month and a half break for my wedding.”
Imran and Avantika have decided to get married early next year as Imran is loaded with work this year. He has quite a few interesting projects — Karan Johar’s I Hate Love Stories where he is paired opposite Sonam Kapoor, Break Ke Baad with Deepika Padukone and his mamu Aamir Khan’s Delhi Belly. In fact, in I Hate Love Stories, Imran will be seen bare-chested in one of the scenes — the first time that he has done so on-screen.
He says, “I was apprehensive to go shirtless in the beginning. I have been always on the thinner side and I had to build my muscles to pull off the look that Karan wanted me to have. He had given me a time frame of 3-4 months to achieve it. I had to work hard for six days a week, three hours daily. I find gymming boring; so I did functional training which was fun and controlled my diet. I had steamed fish and veggies and no chicken or eggs. I had brown rice and sweet potatoes and ate lots of fruits and nuts. Plus, I did a lot of weight training.”

Hrithik snubs Barbara Mori's Brother

Hrithik snubs Barbara Mori's Brother

The most awaited movie of the year Kites is all set to release on 14st May 2010 as the very charming Barbara Mori makes her debut in Bollywood. Unfortunately her brother Kintaro has not been that lucky to make his mark in the B- town.

Shot completely in exotic locales like Las Vegas, Sante Fe and Los Angeles, Kites has been surrounded by a lot of controversies with Hrithik's alleged link up with Barbara and the resulting clashes with wife Sussane.

Recently Kintaro, Barbara Mori's brother celebrated his birthday at a suburban lounge bar but it was not really a very happy occasion for him. Hrithik at the time of shooting for Kites got to know of Kintaro's budding talent in music and kept praising him for the same.

He asked him to shift base to Mumbai and also promised to help him make his musical debut in Bollywood. It has been three years since then but Kintaro is still trying to get a substantial music debut in Bollywood.

Our sources also say that Kintaro was supposed to sing the track 'Kites in the sky' for the movie Kites. However, daddy Roshan after listening to the scratch thought that Mori was not ready and the song was eventually sung by our very own Duggu.

Barbara is in town and trying hard to charm the industry for the sake of sibling love and get her brother a dynamic debut.

Mammootty to launch his son!

By Moviebuzz

Mammootty is all set to launch his son Dulkar Salman as hero in a Malayalam film directed by Tamil hit maker Lingusamy!
The film will be a musical entertainer, with Mammootty himself doing a cameo in the film.
Says Lingusamy: “ Mammootty is like my big brother. We go back a long way. My first film as director Anandam in Tamil had Mammooka in a pivotal role and the film was a super hit. So when he asked me to launch his son Dulkar Salman in Malayalam, I readily agreed.”
The other details of this proposed film and when it will be launched will be known only after Mammootty comes back from his US holiday, sometime in May.
