I don’t have to jhelo Gauahar the entire day now: Ajaz Khan

Actor Ajaz Khan is "disgusted" with reports of Gauahar Khan threatening to quit Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi, post his entry into the show. Speaking from Cape Town, Ajaz said, "I am not a kid like them. I did not enter the show because of them and am doing it because I wanted to repay the channel, which gave me such a good platform in terms of Bigg Boss 7."

Initially, the actor had said that he was not interested in taking up the show, since he was busy with his film. "As Ya Rab has released and I had around 10 days free when the channel called me, I could not refuse," he added.

However, Ajaz isn't ready to accept that Kushal quit the show because of his shoulder injury. "I don't know what has happened to Kushal. We were friends earlier, but things are no longer fine between us. The moment I entered the show, he gave the excuse of an injured shoulder to exit," he added.

According to him, Ajaz is trying his best to avoid Gauahar now. "Gauahar is still in the show and I don't know why she overreacted. She shouldn't have done that. I was called because something was missing, and it was perhaps the entertainment factor. I don't react to such behaviour anymore. Being a professional I am out of all this now. Also it is good that I have to jhelo her only till 6 pm every day unlike the Bigg Boss house where the ordeal was all day long. And as far as quitting the show is concerned, the channel will decide who will stay and who will go. Nobody's personal problems should come in the way," he added.

Ellen DeGeneres wanted to know all about Salman Khan: Akshat Sharma

Akshat Sharma talks about his interview with host Ellen DeGeneres on her show.

India’s got talent. Eight-year-old Akshat Sharma proved it by appearing on talk-show queen Ellen DeGeneres’ show in the US. This week DeGeneres spotted Akshat on India’s Got Talent and invited him to Los Angeles to be on her show.

The dazed boy left for LA on February 13 and recorded his dance item in front of the highly appreciative American hostess on Valentine’s Day. Still  in a state of disbelief, Akshat says, “I don’t know how all this happened. But someone called on my parents’ mobile and asked if I’d like to be on this lady’s show. Bas,aur kya? I left for America ready to dance.”

A Class 3 student from Kolkata, Akshat in all innocence, confesses he had never heard of Ellen DeGeneres. “Maine kabhi unka naam nahin suna tha. But I got to know she’s very big. I was thrilled to be invited on her show. I don’t think anybody from India has ever danced for her.”

Akshat being a diehard Salman Khan did his movements for Ellen. “She loved my dancing. She wanted to know all about Salman Khan and I was happy to tell her. There were lots of Indians in the studio and they were all Salman fans. So I had fun. I ate Mexican food and got to meet nice people.”

The boy from Kolkata, who says he began dancing since he was four, has come back from LA all praise for the no-nonsense Ellen DeGeneres. “She was very nice to me. I was a bit shy to begin with. She told me to call her ‘Ellen’. I was comfortable with her in no time at all. I loved dancing on her show. There were other overweight kids on the show. So I felt at home.”

His first visit abroad Akshat couldn’t get to see anything  of the US. “I flew in with my parents. We just shot my dance and came back. But I travelled all over America in my dreams,” says the boy with big dreams.“What do I want to do when I grow up? I want to study hard . I want to dance all my life. I want to be many things. But most of all I want to be intelligent.”

Crazy about Salman
Akshat, who is a huge Salman Khan fan, only dances to songs from the the actor’s films. He first made news two years ago when a video of him dancing at home to Dhinka Chika (Ready) went viral. After thathe was seen in season 5 of India’s Got Talent. This time he grooved to Jalwa (Wanted). The performance became a rage with over a million hits online, which led to an invite to The Ellen Degeneres show.

Yes, I am in love with Harman: Bipasha

A day after Harman Baweja announced to the world that he is dating Bipasha Basu, she came out and "stated the obvious" that she is also in love with Harman. She said this on her twitter account.

Bipasha Basu  -"Stating the obvious!Yes Harman n Me r a couple :) Finally I have met a person who is a far better human being than I am.Blessed."

Not that Bipasha wanted to make the declaration. On Tuesday, when questioned whether she will be attending IIFA with Harman, Bipasha had said, "I am going to IIFA alone. So I am looking for an eligible bachelor there." She had earlier said she was waiting for a proposal.

Bipasha is all set to perform at the IIFA awards in Tampa Bay, Florida.
Harman and Bipasha profess love for each other.

That statement didn't look very good for Harman who had said earlier in the day, "Our starting to see each other was very organic. Barring the fitness factor, we are very similar. She (Bips) is a simple, straight-forward and honest girl who is caring and loving. For both of us, family and friends mean the most in the world and we are both emotional, caring and simple," Harman had said.

On Wednesday, the actor took to her Twitter account to announce that she and Baweja are a couple. She said that she feels blessed to have finally met Baweja, who according to her is a far better human being than she is.

In an earlier tweet, the actor had said, "(I) am in a very happy space in my personal life and it would be fair if people just respect that and not speculate."

Basu has earlier dated Bollywood actors Dino Morea and John Abraham. She and Abraham had an acrimonious break-up; he allegedly married girlfriend Priya Runchal earlier this year in a hush-hush ceremony.

According to media reports, Bipasha and Harman are likely to tie the knot this year.

My role in Bank-Chor unlike stereotypical comedian: Kapil Sharma

Stand-up comedian Kapil Sharma, who is ready to make a film debut with Yash Raj Films' Bank-Chor, says his role in the movie defies the stereotypical portrayal of a comedian.

The 32-year-old has signed a three-film contract with YRF. Bank-Chor will be produced under the production banner's Youth Films Division Y-Films, which made Mere Dad Ki Maruti.

"It’s a privilege and a dream to be part of the YRF family and have my launch with their Youth Films Studio, Y-Films. The script is the most exciting part since it's the kind of role that's very unlike the stereotype of a comedian or what people could typecast me as," Kapil said in a statement.
He says that he has already started "working on the nuances of the character". "I've always loved and watched thrillers and this is a thriller comedy, so it's even better," said the star comedian, who has become a rage courtesy his hit chat show Comedy Nights With Kapil.
He is excited about turning over a new leaf with the movie. "I’ve done serious theatre for years before comedy. Finally with YRF’s vision, I’ll get to do this again after a 12-year break and this script has equal scope of comedy. It’s sure to surprise my fans," he said.

Bank-Chor, directed by Bumpy and produced by Ashish Patil, is a comic caper that tells the story of three people who pick a wrong day to rob a bank. What happens when the trio is inadvertently caught in a crossfire of cops, industrialists and corrupt politicians, forms the rest of the story.

Aishwarya didn't marry me because I am star or I am a Bachchan says Abhishek Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan says that his actress wife Aishwarya did not marry him because he is a film star or the son of megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

In an upcoming episode of 'Koffee with Karan', when asked by the host Karan Johar about the "insecurity" coming from being married to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, "the most beautiful woman on the face of earth", Abhishek said there was none.

"I believe she is and to me she is the most beautiful thing on earth. I see myself in the mirror every day and it is a horrific sight. So I am not competing, I can't. The reason why we got together wasn't cosmetic," Abhishek said.

"She is one of the most down to earth.... normal people you will ever meet. She hasn't married me because I am a film star or I am a Bachchan and I haven't married her because she is the most beautiful woman on earth or one of the biggest stars on earth, so that never comes in the equation," he said.

Abhishek and Aishwarya tied the knot in 2007. They have a daughter named Aaradhya.

On-screen chemistry depends on your co-stars: Deepika

For actress Deepika Padukone, the on-screen chemistry between two actors cannot be cultivated but it rather stems from the "comfort level" they share.

The sizzling chemistry that Deepika shared with co-star Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Ram Leela' sparked rumours of a romance between the two actors. But both Deepika and Ranveer have refrained from directly commenting on the status of their relationship.

"Chemistry was relevant to the film at that time. What was important for me and Ranveer is to have a good chemistry in a film like 'Ram Leela' which is an adaptation of Romeo and Juliet. (As) the film was a passionate love story, we needed that kind of chemistry and it worked for the film," Deepika said at an event.

She said contrary to the perception, the on-screen chemistry cannot be created between two actors.

"You cannot create chemistry. Also a director cannot direct chemistry as it is something that actors bring to their characters and to the film. It lies in the comfort level that they share. I believe they cannot create it," the actress said.

Once the film is superhit, one has seen top actors demanding profit share from the makers. Deepika too thinks of following the trend.

"I think it depends on project to project. If it is fair for guys (actors) to get it (profit share) then why not girls. I will definitely think about it," she said.

Deepika chose to play safe when asked whether she would play the role of Amitabh Bachchan's daughter in Soojit Sircar's upcoming film.

Would like to do 'Shuddhi' if approached: Deepika

Deepika Padukone has denied reports that she was approached for Karan Johar's much-discussed project 'Shuddhi' but said she was willing to do the film if offered.

"I haven't been approached for the film yet. I don't know if they (makers) know what is happening with the film," Deepika said at an event.

"At the point when Hrithik was doing it I would have definitely be interested in doing it. Now that he is not doing it, I don't know what is happening with the project," she said.

The upcoming film under Karan Johar's home production is getting delayed over its casting.

Earlier Kareena Kapoor Khan and Hrithik Roshan were to star in the film but Hrithik's illness delayed the project, forcing the actor to opt out.

It is also not clear whether Kareena is still a part of the movie.

When asked if she would do the role if approached, Deepika replied in the affirmative.

"Yes I would do it, why not?... If Karan thinks I would do justice to it then I will do it. Though Hrithik is not doing the film, I would be okay to do the film with any other co-star. It all depends on what they plan to do with the project," she added.

The film will be directed by Karan Malhotra of 'Agneepath' fame.

Film review: 'Gunday' should be watched for being a two-hero film which is a rarity these days

Film: Gunday
Rating: **
Director: Ali Abbas Zafar
Starring: Ranveer Singh Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Irrfan Khan

What it's about: It's about two orphans Bala (Arjun Kapoor) and Bikram (Ranveer Singh) who find themselves becoming refugees after the formation of Bangladesh. They soon realize that if they have to survive, they have to grow up fast and soon find themselves on the path of crime. The boys as petty thieves who are forced to run away to Calcutta, where they grow up and become kingpins of the city. People swear by their friendship. And then they both fall in love with the same girl.

What's good: The entire childhood portion of Bala and Bikram is powerfully captured by Abbas, both in terms of the screenplay and execution. It almost sets the tone for the film - almost saga-like. There are some poignant moments in the friendship between the two heroes - and that's the crux of the film. This is what you call in movie terminology a guy's film - loads of action, attitude and masala. Abbas is superb when it comes to projecting heroism of his lead protagonists.

The scale is grand; production values are great. In terms of screenplay, there is one really good twist in the film that you don't see coming, but by the time it comes, you have pretty much thrown up your hands. Priyanka Chopra looks pretty, and that is what the directors seem to expect from her and emphasize on. She is a director's actress and can deliver.

That she proves in the one scene she gets the chance to perform (the confrontation with Bala). She bites into the role with vengeance and shows that she has it in her. When two actors have equal roles, everyone is watching them to see who is better. In Gunday, both Ranveer and Arjun have been given contrasting characteristics so both stand apart.

Ranveer's restraint is ably matched by Arjun's hyper intensity. Irrfan Khan as the cop is a delight. The dialogues deserve a special mention.

What's not: There was a reason why there was so much curiosity surrounding Gunday. After a long time, the industry was witnessing a two-hero film. One only wishes that after getting such a golden opportunity, director Ali Abbas had focused more on the substance.

After a stupendous start, the film keeps going downhill with every reel. All the critical conflicts in the story and screenplay are flaky - be it the friendship between the two guys (after a point), the romantic angle and the adversities they face. You know right from the onset that the boys will become enemies over the girl they love.

That misunderstanding, split and ugly fight scene will follow post which, both will swear to destroy each other. You keep hoping there's something clever coming your way but alas! Gunday was meant to be this generation's Ram Lakhan but it comes nowhere close to it. Overall speaking, Arjun and Ranveer's camaraderie was better on Koffee With Karan.

The kind of bromance that entertained us in Ram Lakhan, Muqaddar Ka Sikander, Sholay and Karan Arjun was needed but the film just doesn't deliver on that. And that is what the film is hinged on, so it's a big let down.

What's that: I was really worried in the fight scene where Arjun and Ranveer rip each others' shirts off. Thankfully the fight master didn't have any imaginative way to strip them of their pants.

What to do: A two-hero film is a rarity these days. Watch it only for that reason.

Ragini MMS: why Sunny Leone is Baby Doll, not Barbie Doll

It seems that whenever Sunny Leone appears in a song, there is controversy around the corner. Last year, Sanjay Gupta’s film, Shootout At Wadala (SAW), got into trouble with the Censor Board for the lyrics of its item number, Laila Teri.

Ekta Kapoor, who, incidentally, co-produced SAW, is playing it safe this time. In Ekta’s upcoming film, Ragini MMS 2, a sultry number called Barbie Doll was picturised on Sunny.
It was only post-recording that it struck the makers that the use of the word Barbie (one of the most iconic dolls, and therefore a trademarked term) could get them into trouble.
A source says, “On being advised by their legal team, the makers decided to exercise precaution and changed the lyrics of Barbie Doll to Baby Doll. Using Barbie could have invited copyright complications. Besides, it might also have caused some outrage over a kids’ brand being used in a sexy song sequence, pictured on Sunny Leone in a horrex (sic; horror and sex) film.”

Portions of the track have now been re-recorded in London by British-Asian pop singer Kanika Kapoor, who shot to fame with her remixed rendition of Arif Lohar’s chartbuster, Jugni.
When asked about it, Tanuj Garg, the CEO of Ekta’s film production company, confirmed the news: “We went with the word ‘baby’ to avoid unnecessary complications,” says Garg.

Friendship with Shah Rukh Khan is not strained, says Juhi Chawla

Mumbai: Actress Juhi Chawla says there is "no strain" in her friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and that the superstar would be there for her whenever she needs him.
There have been reports of the two no longer being good friends. But, Juhi insists their friendship is strong, contrary to reports.
"It (friendship) is not strained or anything. With our growing lives, schedules we get busy. Like today Madhuri Dixit and I are working for a film because our work has brought us together. Then she will be busy with 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' and I will be busy with my work. How and when we will meet next we don't know," Juhi told
Friendship with Shah Rukh Khan is not strained: Juhi Chawla

"If I need something and I call Shah Rukh, I know I will get through him in an instant but I will not trouble him, because I know he is very busy, so I really need not take his time," she said.
Juhi wonders why their friendship is questioned often.
"I feel why it should be? I think it should be left to individuals to decide whether they get along or not, whether there is a connect more than work or not, then you can be friends," she said.
The actress does not feel upset about the reported growing animosity between her and Shah Rukh.
"I feel why it should be said (reported this way). There are friendships and there should be friendships among all," she said.
Apparently, the friction between Juhi and Shah Rukh started when her brother Bobby was replaced with Venky Mysore as the CEO of Red Chillies, without informing the actress.
When asked who are her friends from the film industry, Juhi said, "Whosoever I have worked with...whenever I meet them I will be nice to them, be it Aamir Khan or Shah Rukh Khan or Amrita Singh and others. But it is not that I talk to
them every day and ask what you are doing and all. That doesn't happen."
Shah Rukh and Juhi were seen as one of the best on screen pairs. According to Juhi, the secret behind their chemistry was the sparkling films that they were offered.
She teamed up with the superstar in several movies, including 'Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman', 'Darr', 'Duplicate', 'Yes Boss' and others. Most of their films have been hit.
On work front, Juhi will be seen next in 'Gulaab Gang', which is loosely based on Uttar-Pradesh based Sampat Pal's 'Gulabi Gang'.
Director Soumik Sen has managed to bring two powerful actresses -- Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla -- on screen for the first time.
While Madhuri is the main lead in the film, Juhi will be seen in a negative role.

Is Salman Khan still protective about ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif?

Is Salman Khan still protective about ex-girlfriend Katrina Kaif?

The Dhoom:3 heroine and Jai Ho actor might not be a couple anymore, but they definitely share a bond even today

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s relationship has been the fodder for gossip mills for very long. This couple parted amicably. Sallu in an interview had assured that Katrina and he ‘were friends, are friends and will be friends forever’, so we are not surprised when we spot this duo share a comfortable hug and chat when they bump into each other unlike other ex-couples in Bollywood. Recently when Karan Johar rated Ms Kaif low on honesty, the Kick hero was out there to vouch for her.

Karan Johar might have grilled many superstars on his hit chat show Koffee with Karan 4, so SK decided to interrogate the host himself. Unlike KJo who lets his stars answer candidly, Mr Khan decided to cross-question Johar’s answers. Especially when he insisted that Karan rate Kat high on the honesty meter. We’re sure the Dabangg dude must have surprised the audience, fans and Karan but not Katrina.

When the Bang Bang actor was asked about this episode, the actor said, “We should always respect what Salman says.” Well, we wonder what Kat’s beau Ranbir Kapoor has to say to this. BollywoodLifers, do you think Salman Khan still nurtures a soft corner for Katrina Kaif?

PC is glad to do much more than just being a pretty face

PC is glad to do much more than just being a pretty face

Priyanka Chopra is happy to be in Bollywood at a time when women performers are doing much more in films than just being a pretty face.

The 31-year-old actress, who now has a budding international music career, says it is great to see strong roles being written for women in the industry, which is often blamed for being male-dominated.

Priyanka thinks she has finally managed to strike a balance between big budget commercial fares and roles that do justice to her as an actor.

"I think it is really good time for female actors in Bollywood. We get to do so much... Parts are being written for us. I am very fortunate that roles are being written for me where I can do much more than just being a pretty face," the former Miss World told PTI in an interview.

"Yes, you have to do films like that also (being a pretty face). But, it is great to have the ability to have so much going on for you," she adds.

Priyanka had two releases last year -- the superhit 'Krrish 3' and 'Zanjeer' remake which did not do that well. She is looking forward to her first release this year with 'Gunday' hitting the screens tomorrow.

In the Yash Raj Film, Priyanka play the role of a glamorous cabaret dancer Nandita in the 1970s of Kolkata. She is being romanced by Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor.

Priyanka says she was inspired by her mother's look in that era to recreate Nandita.

Balu Mahendra a stylish cinematographer

Chennai: An ace cinematographer-cum filmmaker, Balu Mahendra is credited with introducing a new style of story narration through his camera by blending natural light with his character`s expressions.

The style became a hit with his audience who instantly connected with the plot of some of his gripping tales like `Veedu` and `Moondram Pirai` (`Sadma` in Hindi) and helped the 75-year old filmmaker, who passed away today, to carve a niche for himself in south cinema.

Balu Mahendra leaves behind a rich legacy of films that will be cherished and discussed for long for both the treatment of the plot and the technical finesse.

His trademark cap and thick moustache, displaying masterclass all over, Mahendra, an avid photographer, made his cinema entry as a cinematographer for Malayalam movie `Nellu`.
He infused a sense of calmness in his films, with the pioneering use of natural light and dealt with subjects of day-to-day affairs that appealed to the masses.

The story of a mentally unstable girl (Sridevi) and her relationship with a small town hero Kamal Haasan in `Moondram Pirai` left many a viewer choked with emotions while the plot set in the picturesque Ooty provided the perfect backdrop.

The Haasan-Mahendra duo also came up with a comedy caper years later, when the director sensitively dealt with adultery in `Sathi Leelavathi,` counted as one of the best Tamil films in the humour genre.

`Veedu` (Home), apparently inspired from his mother`s personal difficulties in building a house, earned him critical acclaim and a national award for the film.

His last film, `Thalaimuraigal` was released recently, with the plot revolving around the relationship between an old man, played by himself, and his grandson.

The film received rave reviews, especially for Mahendra who had made probably his one and only on-screen appearance.
Tinseltown condoled the death of Mahendra with musician A R Rahman paying rich tributes hailing him as an `inspiring visual poet`.
"Dear Balu Mahendra Sir Thank you for being an inspiring visual poet, for directing such life changing Tamil movies... You have certainly been an inspiring stepping stone of creativity for many others who came later... May God bless your soul!," the Oscar-winning musician said in a tweet.

Director Venkat Prabu, actors Radhika Sarathkumar, Jeyam Ravi and Simbu were among those who condoled Mahendra`s death.

Ranveer or Ranbir, who will replace Hrithik in Shuddhi?

When Hrithik Roshan was busy shooting for 'Bang Bang' and held back on alotting any dates for Karan Johar's 'Shuddhi' (to be directed by Karan Malhotra) opposite actress Kareena Kapoor, the film faced the first of its many reported delays.

This was soon followed with Kareena hinting , subtly, at dropping out from Shuddhi after sighting an issue with dates, and Hrithik not being available for the project.

Soon came the announcement from none other than filmmaker Karan Johar who reportedly announced his plans of searching for a new leading lady, and not keeping Kareena waiting. Some reports even hinted that Deepika Padukone was the new replacement.
And finally came Hrithik's announcement that he's leaving the project. Was it that he needed time to recover from his brain surgery, or the matter of his split from Sussane, is not confirmed. But here's what the press statement read: "Karan Malhotra and I have decided to unite in the most ambitious way post Shuddhi. For now, I cannot allow a vision like 'Shuddhi' to stagnate any further. I had the finest experience an actor can have working with Karan in Agneepath and I'm sure both my dear Karans (Johar and Malhotra) are going to go beyond with this one! 'Shuddhi' remains a part of me in spirit and I am sure it will be a landmark in our cinema. I wish them all the best!"

So with Hrithik and Kareena reportedly out, while some reports are claiming Ranveer Singh, Deepika's Ram-Leela co-star, will come in Hrithik's place, other reports are suggesting Ranbir Kapoor will be joining the project instead.
