Those who had refused to take Katrina Kaif's superstardom and numero uno status seriously and scoffed at the suggestion till as late as last year have more or less accepted it.
Almost the same story is there for Ranbir Kapoor whose towel dropping act in SAAWARIYA was more talked about (and made fun of!) rather than his histrionic capabilities. And once again the title of Ranbir being a future super star drew smirks from the cynics. But with a slew of hits (including one of his biggest AJAB PREM KI GHAZAB KAHANI with Kat) have only consolidated his deserved place in the industry.
Even then who can stop the tongues from wagging and so now the charge leveled against Ranbir-Katrina is that they can only excel in yuppie, youthful, up market kind of glamorous roles.
However, it appears that once again the joys of their detractors will be short lived as in less than a month both Ranbir and Katrina are all set to showcase their versatility and acting prowess via Prakash Jha's powerful political drama, RAAJNEETI.
The film sees Ranbir as a young, suave, sophisticated, mean and calculating (slight shades of grey) politician and a 'desi' saree clad Katrina in her much talked about deglamourized 'avatar'.
The image makeover is quite radical for both the young stars but they are looking very convincing in the promos of the film which is all set to release on 4th June and will surely cement their place on the top rung of the ladder!
