Prakash Jha talks about genesis of Rajneeti

Katrina

Our ears would fall if we heard one more time about the film bearing no resemblance with anyone from the First Family of Indian politics, so, we begin with asking Prakash Jha, director of soon to be released film Rajneeti, about the genesis of the concept.
“The idea of making this film came to me around the time I made Apharan and Gangaajal,” said Jha, in the city on a film promotional tour, along with members of the cast, Ajay Devgan, Katrina Kaif and Manoj Bajpai. “This film is as political per se as any other because politics is ubiquitous…it is there in a wife haggling a deal with her husband, or a man finding a way with his wanton son. There is more to the film than just politics,” the director summed up.
“My role in the film, against the common perception, is pretty glamorous, that of a spoilt brat from a rich family,” said Katrina Kaif, adding to elaborate on her reason to do the film with “I agree with people when they say I have been typecast doing the romance-comedy stuff. I loved the character that I play and decided that this film would give the much needed break to me and my fans.”
