Director Rajkumar Hirani and his co-writer, Abhijat Joshi, had a special screening of their blockbuster, 3 Idiots, at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Monday.
A source from Vinod Chopra Productions says that the Department of Management at the UN contacted them, requesting for a screening followed by a two-hour long session with the members who will focus on how the film has impacted their lives and how each character influences the education system.
Apparently, the UN sent invites expecting 175 Indian expats. However, 700 people turned up and the screening was shifted to a bigger venue.
The question-answer session had to be stopped after an-hour-and-a- half since the permission for the hall wasn’t for all that long.
Talking of the screening and the session, Hirani says, “Abhijat and I were overwhelmed by the response to the film in the US and the enthusiasm at the question-answer session. It was a humbling experience.”
