Remember the adage: If life throws a lemon at you, make lemonade? That's just what Katrina Kaif did when she had to cancel her London trip to attend her maternal grandfather's 90th birthday.
Director Prakash Jha was shocked to get a call from Katrina Kaif on Saturday morning (when she should have been in London), asking if she could re-dub her lines for Raajneeti.
Jha elaborates, "First I thought that she was calling from London. I laughed and told her to relax and enjoy her family gathering and stop thinking about work. But then she told me couldn't go to London because all flights to Europe were cancelled. So instead of wasting her time in crying over missing the function, Katrina decided to get busy with re-dubbing her lines for my film. Although there was nothing more to do with the lines, as far as I could see, Katrina was convinced she could improve on her dialogue. Her logic was that if she suddenly had extra time, why waste it sleeping or partying? She said she'd rather work."
The actress reached the dubbing studio on Saturday itself and started re-dubbing the lines she wasn't fully satisfied with. She completed the dubbing by Sunday. Although she was now happy with her work, on Sunday evening, Katrina could not stop sulking about her inability to be in London for the family function. She says, "I was very, very angry and upset about missing the function. I tried and tried to find a way to reach London, but when everything failed, I had two choices - I could either mope and sulk or use that time to do something that would take my mind off not being with my family. So yeah, I chose to improve my lines."
Looks like Katrina is working extra hard to banish the reputation of being a firangi memsaab who cannot speak good Hindi. And the effort seems to have paid off as Jha is all praise for the actress. He says, "I have worked with a lot of focussed actors, but I have never seen such an obsession to prove a point. Katrina has been working on her lines like crazy. I thought that she had already got it perfect in pitch and tone, but Katrina thought otherwise. She decided she wanted to get it even better."
