Graveyard shift for Gurinder Chaddha

The promotional strategy to mark the release of Gurinder Chaddha’s film It’s a Wonderful Afterlife has gone for a toss.

The event was to be held at the Mahalaxmi Catholic graveyard. But even though permissions were given by the authorities, the BMC has refused to give permissions, resulting in a no show for them.

Our source said, “The film is about a mother’s desperate attempt to get her daughter married, but with a twist. There are a lot of ghosts or spirits accompanying the mother. So, the producers, Studio 18, thought of hosting an event that would highlight this aspect. Gurinder is flying down to India on April 28 for the event and the release. The occasion was planned as it went well with the film’s theme, but now it has braked to a sudden halt.”

Hemant Bharadwaj of Studio 18, who is marketing and distributing the film in India, said, “It’s a new genre in India, in England this genre is famous - comedy with a horror twist. We wanted to highlight this aspect. However, local authorities felt otherwise.”

Maybe in another life, eh!
