Rajinikanth's Kochadaiiyaan to hit threatres on April 11

The much-awaited Rajinikanth flick Kochadaiiyaan - The Legend, a movie directed by the Superstar's daughter Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, is expected to hit the theatres on April 11, 2014. The movie is estimated to have a budget of Rs 100-125 crore, according industry sources.
The movie, which has been in the talks for some time, is planned to be released in seven languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Bhojpuri, Bengali and Punjabi in India and overseas in more than 6,000 screens.

Sunil Lulla, managing director of Eros International Media Ltd, which presents the movie produced by Chennai-based Media One Global Entertainment, also said that an English version of the movie would be released internationally as well.
The movie is an epic dramatisation of good versus evil with Rajinikanth in a double role in a larger than life depiction. Hindi film actror Deepika Padukone is playing a leading role in the picture, which has a presence of major actors from the Tamil and South Indian film industry.

The photorealistic performance capture technology, a filming technology used in successful Hollywood movies such as Avatar, Tin Tin and Beowulf, is used in the movie for the first time in the history of an Indian film.

Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin, said, "For the first time a full lenght feature has been made using performance capture technology in India and I truly hope this creates a whole alternate film making avenue apart from live action films in our country." The musical scores are from acclaimed music composer A R Rahman. 
The movie comes after a gap of almost three years from the release of his previous full length appearance in the movie Enthiran (Robo), in 2010, though he had a guest appearance in Shah Rukh Khan-starred Ra One in Hindi, in 2011.

Eros International and Media One Global has also announced tie up with Indian mobile phone company Karbonn Mobile to launch 10 lakh exclusive Kochadaiiyaan branded mobile phones which will have screen savers and images from the film along with the trailer and the signature tune of the film. The mobile phone is expected to be launched in February, during the audio launch of the film.
The movie ha been shot at Pinewood Studios in the United Kingdon with support of international experts such as the London-based Centroid Studios, which has worked for many Hollywood movies like Pirates of the Carribean, and Los Angeles-based Counter Punch Studios which worked behind Beverly Hills Chihuahua and UK-based Faceware Technologies, which has works like The Mummy 3 and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in its credit for facial capturing technology.
