Sushant Singh Rajput dons a typical Bengali garb of dhoti-kurta in the first look of Dibakar Bannerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshi. Sushant plays the role of the famous Bengali detective in the film. Byomkesh Bakshi is best described as Bengal’s answer to Sherlock Holmes.
Sporting a neat little moustache and casually walking down the street holding his dhoti in that a typical way, Sushant seems to fit the part perfectly. The film is based in the war-torn Calcutta of the 1940s and will tell the tale of Byomkesh’s fight against an evil genius who, you guessed it, is out to destroy the world.
Talking about why Sushant was chosen for the role Dibakar said, “Sushant Singh Rajput has that dormant volcano thing about him that is just right for my Byomkesh. He looks so quiet, so self-absorbed and withdrawn - till you challenge him. Then he explodes and becomes the most dangerous man in the world - at least for the criminals.”
The detective thriller is slated to release in December and is co-produced by Dibakar Banerjee and Yash Raj Films. What do you think of Sushant’s look? Do let us know in the comments.
