Looking like a goddess drenched in gold, actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan finally made an appearance at the ongoing film festival at Cannes. Dressed in a sculpted, metallic dress by designer Roberto Cavalli, Ash's look got a big thumbs up from fans and critics alike. After all the flak the 40-year-old received for her weight earlier, her look made for red-carpet redemption.
Asked about Ash's Cannes appearance, designer Manish Malhotra said, "I think she is looking simply beautiful. Re-defining motherhood and looking sensuous and really glamorous. The cut of the outfit is complimentary and highlights her recent weight loss perfectly."
Designer Masaba Gupta added that the Indian brigade has done everyone stylishly proud, "Even Sonam's (Kapoor) look was amazing, especially in the sari and now Aishwarya - she looks really outstanding, like a whole new person!"
Designer duo Falguni and Shane Peacock told us, "We feel this is one of her hottest looks on the red carpet. The two tones of gold have been amalgamated perfectly in this outfit. Gold is also the colour for the season internationally and the silhouette is perfectly accentuating her curves. The red lips and the hair make her look sexy and classy at the same time."
On Cavalli's Instagram account, a picture of Aishwarya coming out of her limo was posted with a caption that said, "Our golden girl Aishwarya Rai making the sun jealous of her beauty!"
Mumbai-based designer Nikhil Thampi posted another picture of the actor, with a caption which simply read, "There she is, like a live mermaid!" referring to the fishtail hem on the gown, adding, "Gosh! Breathtaking. Hence she rules the world."
Word of praise came from husband Abhishek also, who tweeted, "Almost 52hrs without sleep! Eyes shutting… and the Mrs. Shows up looking like this!! Ok.. Eyes wide open now!"
