Bhuj: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan may rule a million hearts, but if his blog is anything to go by, the actor is himself quite humbled and, as he puts it, 'honoured', at the reception he received in Kutch.
Bachchan, in Gujarat to shoot an ad film for promotion of tourism
in the state, has a hectic schedule, compounded by the heat and dust storms prevailing in the area. And keeping the weather in mind, Bachchan left the farm house he's putting up in, at 4:30 am, to reach the venue of his first shoot. He was accompanied by state tourism secretary Vipul Mitra.
In Dhordo village for his first shot, Bachchan strolled about in the Rann on exactly the same spot where CM Modi has been taking strolls during every Rannotsav over the last few years. Dressed in a while kurta and pyjama, with a scarf around his neck, Bachchan looked into the rising sun and delivered his first lines, a source present at the site told DNA.
Even as shooting for the ad film has just begun, Bachchan has already penned his first impressions of the surrounding landscape, in his blog. "Miles and miles of grey brown muddy landscapes, dried rivers and ocean tributaries making their limited invasions into the mainland, appear as though painted by hand on a large and unending canvas", he says.
Bachchan also feels that his visit here could lead to trade promotion of sorts. "My next stop after a few days will be with the lions in the Gir Forests, and a major hotel chain owner had opened a facility there, and closed it for lack of visitors. Coming to learn of my visit, he has informed the authorities that they would start business again; an anticipatory action expecting trade to go up. Happy!", he blogged.
