Ness Wadia threw burning cigarettes at my face: Preity Zinta to police

 Bollywood actor Preity Zinta, who has accused industrialist Ness Wadia of molestation, said her former boyfriend had thrown burning cigarettes at her and locked her up in a room even before the May 30 incident at Wankhede Stadium after which she filed a police complaint.

"Ness's behaviour towards me is getting more and more aggressive and violent over a period of time. From throwing burning cigarettes at my face to locking me up in rooms and manhandling me, I have seen it all with him," she said in a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria.

However, a source close to Wadia has dismissed the charge as false.

Preity had submitted a letter to Maria on June 30 when she met him to seek permission to go abroad.

"I (Zinta) just want him (Wadia) to be kept away from me so I can live in peace, otherwise one unfortunate day, in a fit of rage, he will kill me and that really scares me," she said in the letter, according to a police officer privy to the probe.

"I had no intention to harm him (Wadia) in anyway by lodging a police complaint, but I had no option left but to come to the police department for my safety. I am genuinely paranoid that he will try to harm me directly or indirectly in the future," she said.

In her complaint to the police on June 12, Zinta had accused wadia of molesting, abusing and threatening her during an IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings on May 30 at Wankhede Stadium. The two are co-owners of IPL team Kings XI Punjab.

"I had no intention to harm him (Wadia) in anyway by lodging a police complaint, but I had no option left but to come to the police department for my safety. I am genuinely paranoid that he will try to harm me directly or indirectly in the future," she said.

When contacted, a source close to Wadia said, "This is a planned attempt to malign the reputation of Ness Wadia. All the allegations are fictitious and unwarranted."

Did Preity Zinta's 'expletives' provoke Ness Wadia?

The Priety-Ness case is getting murkier by the day. A report reveals what exactly happened on May 30, that lead to the altercation between the Bollywood actress and her former boyfriend Ness Wadia.

DNA had earlier reported that the former couple shared cold vibes ever since they parted ways and even during team meetings (both Preity and Ness are co-owners of Indian Premiere League franchise - Kings XI Punjab).

“It was a special day for Ness and he was the first in his contingent to arrive at the stadium a few minutes past 8 pm. Imagine his shock when he found that not a single seat in the VIP enclosure was available. He was panicking as he called an official from the team and also the IPL organisers to understand why there were no seats for him. By this time his mother arrived along with his nephew (Jeh and Celina Wadia’s son) they had no option but to keep standing as officials scrambled to find them a place to sit. After a humiliating wait that extended to twenty minutes, finally two seats were arranged together and a third one was given in a separate row,” said a guest who was present there.

"Despite the fact that she had been told by King XI officials that Maureen (Ness' mother) and other Wadia family members were expected any time in the stands and the seats were reserved for them, apparently Preity insisted that her guests be allowed to occupy the vacant chairs and told officials to leave it to her to ‘handle’ Ness. But when all this fuss was unfolding barely 10 feet away from her, Preity, who was in the front row, kept chatting animatedly with her friends as if she hadn’t noticed," reported Mumbaiwalla.

“Naturally, Ness was extremely upset,” Mumbaiwalla.com quoted a guest as saying.

According to an eyewitness, after seating his mother and nephew, Ness had walked up to the front row to reach where Preity was standing near the balcony railing.

“He leaned over to speak in her ear and that’s when he held her by the hand – it was a pretty natural thing in the circumstances because there was too much noise for him to speak to her from a distance,” said the source to Mumbaiwalla.

This is the nature of the conversation that followed based on interviews of some guests, though the words spoken may not be exactly the same:

NESS: What’s going on here?

PREITY: What do you mean what’s going on?

NESS: Why have you taken all the seats?

PREITY: So what? You came late. How was I supposed to know?

NESS: It’s my birthday and you knew my mother was coming. She’s 71 and she’s been standing for nearly half an hour. You’ve shown your true colours.

PREITY: Don’t you dare talk to me like that.

NESS: You are really so disrespectful. This is what you are.

PREITY: Why don’t you just f#@k off!

NESS: Listen to yourself….you’re showing your true colours

“In the end it was Ness who had to back off,” a person closely associated with the Kings XI franchise told Mumbaiwalla.

From the conversation, it seems as if it was because of what Preity said, Ness lost his cool. But this is just one side of the story.

The police investigation might bring the truth forward.

Wadia Group Alleges Threat Calls From Underworld

The Wadia Group, headed by Ness Wadia's father Nusli Wadia, has reportedly filed a police complaint alleging threat calls from an underworld don.

Nusli Wadia's personal secretary has reportedly given a statement to the police alleging that the calls were received on Monday evening. The case has been handed over to the anti-extortion cell of the Mumbai police. 

The allegation comes at a time the police are investigating actor Preity Zinta's complaint that Ness Wadia, her former boyfriend, molested, abused and threatened her at an Indian Premier League cricket match in Mumbai's Wankhede stadium on May 30. The two co-own the IPL team Kings XI Punjab.

Sources say the police are considering changing the charges of molestation to stalking. In emails addressed to Ness Wadia, the actor had reportedly warned him not to follow her.

The police are currently waiting for Ms Zinta to return to the country and give her statement.

They have emailed her and also written to officials of IPL and the Indian cricket board for a list of spectators at the pavilion, who could be potential witnesses. IPL CEO Sundar Raman and Chairman Ranjit Biswal may also be questioned along with players who were present at the time.

Preity Zinta case: Kings XI Punjab COO's statement to be recorded by police

The hype around Preity Zinta –Ness Wadia controversy simply refuses to die down. In another twist of events, Frazer Castelino, the COO of Kings XI Punjab will now record his statement in the case filed by Zinta against her former boyfriend Wadia, as asked by the Mumbai Police.

In what could possibly be termed as one of the most horrid end to a fairytale romance, Zinta has reportedly been directed by the police to record her statement against Ness.

According to reports published in a leading daily, the cops have given in written to Preity`s lawyer, asking her to be present at the Marine Drive police station and record the statement.

To ensure a fair trial to the case, the police will now check the footages in 5 CCTV cameras located at the stadium where the alleged spat between the two former lovers took place.

A detailed statement of the actress was crucial to proceed further with the case as the CCTV footage recovered by the police failed to provide any essential clue.

As per reports, Ness will be taken in for questioning only after the 39-year-old actress is done with re-recording of her statement. Preity will now have to be physically present and record her statements before the magistrate to spell out the exact series of events.

Preity`s lawyer Hitesh Jain denied that any sexual charges had been levied by the actress against Wadia.

Speaking to an English news channel on Monday, Jain expressed concern over the `sexual` angle that had cropped up in reference to the molestation charges filed by the actress against ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia.

The actress on June 12, alleged that her ex-boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia had abused and threatened her on May 30 during an IPL match at Wankhede.

Preity Zinta never charged Ness Wadia with sexual assault: Lawyer

Preity Zinta`s lawyer Hitesh Jain denied that any sexual charges had been levied by the actress against Ness Wadia. 

Speaking to an English news channel on Monday, Jain expressed concern over the `sexual` angle that had cropped up in reference to the molestation charges filed by the actress against ex-boyfriend Ness Wadia.

He said that the entire case is being projected from the angle of sexual assault, and this should not be so, and denied all reports which claims that Preity charged Wadia of sexual assault.

The actress had only charged him of molestation and abusive behaviour among other charges, and had never said anywhere that she was sexually harmed by him.

Preity had filed a written complaint following which an FIR was registered against Wadia under IPC Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). 

According to this section, a person is punishable if charged with assault or insult the modesty of a woman.

The whole case being projected as `sexual molestation` is absurd and wrong, he added.

Preity however is out of the country at the moment, and will re-record her statement in detail once she returns.

Cops to record Preity Zinta's detailed statement

The police are likely to record a detailed statement of Preity Zinta who had in a complaint accused her former boyfriend and industrialist Ness Wadia of physical assault and abuse in May this year.

"On the basis of her complaint, the Marine Drive police station registered an FIR. We will have to record a detailed statement in this regard," said Mumbai deputy commissioner of police Mahesh Patil. 

Since Zinta had left for abroad soon after filing the complaint, the statement will be recorded on her return, as the police believe the statement is important to ascertain the exact sequence of events.

Zinta has alleged that during a match, Wadia came up to her in Garware pavilion of the stadium on May 30, grabbed her hand and abused her in front of spectators.

The police are going through CCTV records to identify the spectators who could corroborate Zinta's allegations, said Patil. 

The 39-year-old actor had also alleged that Wadia threatened her with dire consequences and intimidated her by boasting about his political clout and connections.

"Mr Ness Wadia has intimidated me by saying that he could make me disappear as I was nobody and only an actress and he's a powerful person," she alleged.

The police had on Saturday said they were unable to locate the two spectators they had identified from video footage. The IPL COO Sundar Raman may also be questioned with regard to an earlier incident of abuse as alleged by Zinta.

In an emotional Facebook post titled "From my heart", Zinta said people in the past had looked away when Wadia abused her but she had to report the Wankhede incident as it had "happened in front of way too many people".

In her FIR (a copy is with HT) Zinta alleged that besides the public abuse at Wankhede, Wadia had abused her during a player auction in Bengaluru in February. The spat then had gotten so bad that IPL COO Sundar Raman had to intervene, Zinta alleged. "We will be recording the statement of Raman too," a police source said.

The National Commission for Women has also decided to take suo motu cognisance and will conduct an investigation.

Meanwhile, Wadia has denied all allegations. A source close to him said the industrialist had booked about 14 seats in Garware Pavilion, but had turned angry when he saw his mother Maureen Wadia standing for around 20 minutes as all seats had been occupied by Zinta and her guests.

"Wadia argued with the actor over lack of courtesy being shown to his elderly mother, which has now been twisted and turned into a molestation case," he said.

Molestation Allegations Baseless: Ness Wadia on Preity's Complaint

Actor Preity Zinta, who has accused her former boyfriend and businessman Ness Wadia of molesting her, said today that her intention behind the complaint "is not to harm anyone but only to protect myself."

"This is a very difficult time for me," the 39-year old actor, who co-owns the IPL team, Kings XI Punjab with Mr Wadia, said in a statement adding that "I would like to request the media to please respect my privacy regarding this matter."

Ms Zinta has alleged that Mr Wadia molested, abused and threatened her on May 30 inside the Wankhede stadium in south Mumbai, where an IPL match was being played between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings.

Mr Wadia, 44, has rejected the allegations as "totally false and baseless." The two had called off their five-year-long relationship in 2009.

After her written complaint, a first information report or FIR was registered against Mr Wadia under Sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), police sources added.

The Mumbai Police has reportedly started examining witnesses in the case and will also the scan CCTV footage from the stadium.

Kolkata Knight Riders principal owner Shah Rukh Khan on Sunday dedicated the team's second IPL triumph to his youngest son AbRam. 

After the finals, Shah Rukh as a goodwill gesture wore the Kings XI Punjab jersey, a custom prevalent among the footballers as he exchanged pleasantries with Preity Zinta. He tweeted on Monday that he is yet to accept that his team was the IPL champion again. 

Shah Rukh Tweeted-"It still hasn’t sunk in to be Champions again. Thank u my KKR for making us soooo happy."

"I dedicated this win to my little child Abram and the hard work done by Gautam and his team. Thank you Bengaluru and thank you IPL. We believed in ourselves and hard work done by the team management," Shah Rukh told the official broadcasters after the IPL final.

Shah Rukh attributed the success to "teamwork". "We didn't have many big players and flashy names but team work did it for us. I told my children that Manish will do something special. If I were to choose my team to play against any team in the final, I wouldn't have chosen Preity's team. I wished to win against any other team.

"Punjab is a great team, they did fantastic job during auction. But luck was on our side, we did manage to capture a few moments." 

Shah Rukh has been tweeting since Sunday morning. He attributed the tweet spree as a sign of "nervous excitement". he also said he wished his wife Gauri, youngest son AbRam and eldest Aryan were there with him in Bangalore. Daughter Suhana accompanied him.

After his team won the match, he was constantly tweeting thanks to Bollywood personalities and the members of his team. 

Mamata congratulates KKR 

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated Kolkata Knight Riders team for winning their second IPL title beating Kings XI Punjab in a thrilling final by three wickets.

"Congratulations... KKR. Congratulations... Shahrukh," Banerjee wrote on her Facebook wall soon after KKR's victory tonight.

She also congratulated Bengal wicketkeeper-batsman donning Kings XI Punjab's jersey Wriddhiman Saha on scoring a century in tonight's final match against KKR.

"Congratulations to Wriddhiman for his brilliant performance," she wrote on her Facebook page. 

Saha, a former KKR player, completed his century in 49 balls to become the first player to score a century in an IPL final.

Meanwhile, it was a festive atmosphere in Kolkata soon after KKR's victory in the final.

Fans of the KKR team, owned by superstar Shah Rukh Khan, were seen celebrating till late in the night in several parts of the city including Shobha Bazar, Park Street, Behala.

They were seen waving KKR flags and shouting the team's slogan: 'Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re'.

'My constant tweeting is a sign of nervous excitement', says SRK as his team gets ready for the IPL finale

Shah Rukh Khan's Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the title in 2012 and they have again reached the finals of the seventh edition being played here Sunday. The superstar admits to being nervous, but says he has nothing to lose and tweeted a picture with AbRam written on it.

 "As long as I will do justice to that moment in which I exist, I have nothing to fear. The rest does not matter," tweeted SRK before the match.

But he is nervous about the result.

"I am getting a feeling that my constant tweeting is a sign of nervous excitement. Fingers are not stopping," added SRK whose daughter Suhana is with him at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium.

While his daughter and her friends are all up to watch the match live here, his other family members are back home in Mumbai.

"We are kind of ready in all shapes and sizes. Bring it on. Go my KKR," Shah Rukh tweeted.

After Shah Rukh, Juhi, Shilpa and Preity Zinta, Bollywood actor Salman Khan to own stake in IPL team?

Mumbai: Bollywood actor Salman Khan is reportedly interested in owning a stake in an Indian Premier League (IPL) team.

The superstar was recently present at a marathon organized by BJ Wadia hospital for under priviledged children. Wadia group scion Ness Wadia was also present at the event and it is believed that Salman enquired about the IPL from Ness, English daily Mid-Day reported. 

Ness owns the team Kings XI Punjab along with former girlfriend Preity Zinta.

Quoting sources, the report says that there is no clear indication that he will pick up a stake in an IPL team of his choice. 

"He has been making inquiries with Ness. In fact, he has also been asking his other friends about the same. The actor is trying to work out how he can get a piece of the IPL pie as he loves cricket and has a lot of cricketer friends," the report quotes the sources as saying.

Several Bollywood stars hold shares in various teams of the IPL. 

Shah Rukh Khan along with Juhi Chawla and husband Jai Mehta are the co-owners of Kolkata Knight Riders. Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra are the co-owners of Rajasthan Royals. 

Salman's brother Sohail Khan also owns Mumbai Heroes, a cricket team that plays in Celebrity Cricket League (CCL).
