Witnesses fail to turn up in Salman Khan hit-and-run trial

The trial in the hit-and-run case involving actor Salman Khan was adjourned once again due to unavailability of three witnesses who were expected to depose on Tuesday.

The prosecution told the court that the witnesses were not traceable. Outside the court, the prosecution said it had expressed difficulty in tracing the witnesses as the matter was 12 years old now. "The witnesses are people working as labourers in the area where the alleged offence took place and now they have gone back to their native villages," the public prosecutor said. A panch witness is likely to depose at the next hearing. The court adjourned the hearing to April 28.

Khan, clad in a white shirt and blue jeans, was present in the court. His lawyer told the court he would be going abroad on Wednesday. Salman is accused of running his SUV over five men sleeping in Bandra, killing one and injuring four
