Punjabi meal for dad:Shahid

Shahid Kapoor treated his dad Pankaj Kapur to a special Punjabi meal on his birthday in Edinburgh 

Shahid Kapoor and his dad Pankaj Kapur landed in Edinburgh last week to shoot for the versatile actor's much awaited directorial debut Mausam. The lead actress Sonam Kapoor has also joined the crew recently. 

Shahid surely knows that the way to his father's heart is through his stomach. On his dad's birthday, Shahid managed to spring a culinary surprise for him. A source close to Shahid informs, "It was Pankaj Kapur's birthday on May 29. Shahid, who looks up to his dad, wanted to make his birthday really special. Since he knows that the senior Kapoor gorges on Punjabi food, especially rajma chawal and pakodas, he decided to treat him to an authentic Punjabi meal. 

Though it's not easy to find a good Indian chef in Edinburgh, the doting son managed to find one. He arranged a surprise lunch at a restaurant with the help of a chef named Shinde and, of course, the highlight of the menu was his dad's favourite rajma chawal and pakodas." 

The source adds, "Shahid, who didn't want to take any chances, personally supervised the preparation of the meal and gave the exact recipe of rajma to the chef, just the way the senior Kapur likes it, without cardamom. His effort paid off because Pankajji loved it." 

The producer Sheetal Talwar confirms, "Yes, Shahid threw a party for his dad on his birthday. Pankajji was very pleasantly surprised because it's a task to find good Punjabi food in a foreign country but Shahid did it. Even Supriya Pathak, who is here, loved it."
