Amitabh Bachchan, the Shehanshah of bollywood who is in his late sixties and constantly under medical observations due to his multiple health complications, has his liver already damaged by around twenty five percent due to infected blood of a donor that he had received after accident on the sets of Manmohan Desai’s flick ‘Coolie’ in 1982.
The infection was caused by one of the varieties of hepatitis virus, which was present in one of the sixty bottles that Big B needed and was given at the time. Though the blood had been screened before transfusion but unfortunately at that time this variety of virus was unknown and came to light only recently.
This all has been disclosed by Amitabh Bachchan on his blog where he felt the need to be open with his fans who loved him so much. The revelation of this fact has caused shock to umpteen fans of Amitabh as medical experts say that this condition was known as ‘cirrhosis’ and could damage the liver’s ability to control infections, process nutrients, drugs and even hormones.
This latest disclosure about Amitabh Bachchan’s health will certainly restrict his ability to work in more projects as doctors would be keeping constant vigil on his deteriorating liver.
It may be recalled that Amitabh Bachchan’s career attained newer heights in his second innings when he came after the recovery from ‘Coolie’ accident. Even after working for the last forty years in bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan’s career is not on downwards path and directors still write stories especially for him in mind.
For example, Ram Gopal Varma would have never thought of Sarkar’ or ‘Rann’ without Big B featuring in it.
