There has been too much written about the Saifai Mahotsav and finally Salman Khan has taken on twitter to make his stand clear.
The latest star kid to have made her mark in Bollywood, Alia Bhatt, has also been under fire for performing at the Saifai Mahotsav, following which her father Mahesh Bhatt issued an apology. However, our Superstar Khan, who was also amongst the performers, says the filmmaker needn’t be apologetic about his daughter’s upbringing.
Salman wrote on twitter, “Bhatt Saab, no need for an apology, Alia’s upbringing is great. I was proud to share the stage with her. She earns her living with hard work and dignity.”
Mahesh Bhatt had apologized for letting Alia perform at the Saifai Mahotsav organized by Samajwadi Party chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Alia’s sister, actress Pooja Bhatt also took to her father’s defense and said that he had not failed as a father. “Mahesh Bhatt, you have not failed as a father. Alia needs representation that has a far more sensitized and astute world view. End of story,” Pooja wrote on twitter.
Salman even took to Facebook to explain that the money that he earned from the event has been directed towards a noble cause.
His Facebook Page Read:
“Whenever I visit a place for a performance or a promotion, I see it as an opportunity to help the locals in the areas of healthcare or education. In Nagpur, on Sunday, Being Human pledged to fund hundred pediatric cardiac cases in Maharashtra State.
In Etawah, Being Human, on behalf of all artists who performed yesterday, has committed to fund two hundred pediatric heart surgeries in UP (there is already a wait list of eight one children we have received who are being moved to Fortis Hospital Gurgaon and their surgeries will get done by month end and Being Human is in touch with local NGOs and hospitals for their lists also).
We have also contributed Rs 25 lakh to the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital for the purchase of an Echo Machine, Pediatric and neo natal ventilator and a portable X-ray machine for their pediatric cardiac ICU.”
It was not just Salman and Alia, but several Bollywood stars like Madhuri Dixit, Ranveer Singh, Mallika Sherawat, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Remo, Sajid Wajid and Hard Kaur, were flown in a chartered jet and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav too has been criticised for spending money on the actors while this could have been used for the relief and rehabilitation of the Muzaffarnagar riot victims.
Kudos to Salman Khan and all the celebrities’ for this gesture
